They flew Iraqi insurgent marked Bf-110's(probably Nazi pilots), I do have pictures in some of my history books showing them. You may be correct here as it very well may be Nazi pilots flying those Iraqi insurgent marked Bf-110's during that period in history.

James J. Halley, The Author of "The Role of the Fighter in Air Warfare", ISBN-87165-023-1, Library of Congress Card No. 78-52523, published by Ziff-Davis Flying Books on page 97 has an illustration of a Bf-110D-3 of Luftwaffe 4/ZG 76, operating out of Raschid, Iraq, in May of 1941. "This unit operated in support of anti-British insurgent forces under Iraqi 'colors of convenience' ".

The Markings consisted of a black bordered green triangle
with a red diamondlike figure 8 in the triangle's center. The lower part of the 8 figure containing a small red diamond inside it.

So it was Nazi's operating in Iraq under the guise of insurgent Iraqi's.
