I loved Annette. She was my favorite. I thought she must be the epitome of "womanhood." LOL She seemed ancient to me; also very gracious and kind. Very different from any female role models in my life, but what I wanted to be like (gracious, not ancient!). I learned a lot from watching her, and the rest of the 'teers.
If I'm still living here, I'd be happy to have the Tiggywinkle family as guests in my home (depending on how many of you there are! LOL!) and show you my favorite places.
I planned to take azGopgal and her friend to my favorite restaurant in Chinatown but when we showed up, it had a "closed for renovations" sign on it and no date for re-opening. We were bummed until I found a Thai restaurant where I think we tried just about everything on the menu. Almost.
However, I am planning on selling my home shortly and moving, hoping to get it sold before Greenie ruins the housing market with his interest rate hikes.
I have so much left to to it almost panics me. Living in this house for over 20 years, I've managed to collect too much stuff. There are days when I question my sanity in doing this. But the move is actually a necessity.
LOL!! Oh, that cardboard in the soles of the shoes was tough to take, especially if you had to WALK (gasp) to school in the rain.
I often wonder if we'd have less of the anti-war people if we had rationing now. Victory gardens and saving old scrap metal for the armed forces brought us together and gave us a common goal. I've read that the scrap metal thing was unnecessary and that it was done to give the folks at home a sense of helping the military.
Sir,
Words are inadequate for me to try to express the gratitude I have for your generation's veterans' sacrifices for the freedom I enjoy everyday.
I am 27, in the military and hold you and the rest of America's veterans in the highest honored regard.
My 10 years of military service doesn't equal a minute of the duty you and your fellow veterans performed during WWII.
I am humbled every time I meet a WWII veteran and often wish I there was a way in which I could express my gratitude to them.
America will never see another Generation like yours. Yours truly was the Greatest Generation.
A proud day.
Hi, Mike--great Dose, as usual.
I just got back from our Holiday weekend (in the rain), and I'm catching up on my missed Doses.
I won't have time to read all the posts--so maybe someone has said this already--is anyone else having a Forrest Gump moment? What a picture! ;o)
Thank you for your service.
Truthy
