God Bless you Tommix2 and thank you for your service to our Country. I don't know how we can thank you enough and the many many other brave men that saved not only our country but the world from such evil.

I was not alive in those days, but I do remember all the stories my mother told me of life in the US during that time and I will never forget them.

As I teach my children about the brave service of our soldiers of today .. I also remind them of all those who gave before them .. and to always remember how great our country is and the freedoms we have is because of those who gave their all .. May God Bless them all!!

My Country Tis Of Thee

I was amazed to learn recently that eight YEARS after WW2 ended, Britons were still on food rations. That's how devastated their economy was.

Excellent post GretchenM ... The Brits went through hell and survived .. the pictures I've seen, the movie clips I've watched and the books I've read of that time .. it's just amazing the devastation they endured.

God Bless you for teaching your children well. Many parents are teaching their children well, but some parents are not. Somehow, in the next few months, we must spread the word that the coming election will determine our future survival and freedom.

I have often wondered at the reason FDR was taken from this life days before the German surrender and a few months before decisive action was needed against Japan (read: to use The Bomb or not to use it). The very fact that FDR didn't even tell Truman it was being developed makes me very curious about whether or not he would have used it.

Have you read Roosevelt and Churchill: Men of Secrets ? Using newly accessible documents, it's a fascinating look at the military intelligence that each man had, what they shared, what they did not share, and how it affected the war and their relationship. Book link

No - I haven't. From Amazon, it looks like Stafford is making a small business of writing books about U.S. and British intelligence in World War II and such.

I never gotten much interest in reading about FDR, past a few short pieces on the web.

How can we get the TRUTH out to the American people?? AAARRRRGGGHHH!!

I don't know .. but we have to do something .. I WILL NOT let these boys be treated like those boys in vietnam were treated

I use to try and be reasonable with liberals I know .. any more I am down right sarcastic to them

****

This was said on amother thread discussing Ws opponent:

Dems. are the mushrooms of the world. They live in the dark, love [manure], and can be deadly if you're not familiar with them.

****

We have to realize that dems are deluded so speaking up is our duty.

That's a lot of dough. About $140 worth of "art" and joy.

Actually the financial output is there, but not out of my pocket much of time. As a single female with lots of male friends who enjoy movies ~ and feel uncomfortable about going alone ~I turn down more movie outing offers than I take.

I essentially watch NO TV (never saw Seinfield, Freinds, ET etc.) & briefly scan papers.. My invalid mom who I live with & care for has her TV on every waking hour...

Iget my news from FR. so I am probably not up on all the ugly things many of them say & believe. I did hear Moore at academy award ceremony 2 years ago &had not yet seen Columbine... after hearing him, I will not see anything he does

I have a pretty heavy duty life the past 10 years -but that is another story - and my biking, hiking, kayaking, gardening, movie outings are truly my entertainment, release if you will.

I have friends who each day spend hours in front of TV or doing video / computer games. Others have classic cars & go to cruises & car shows; some are band junkies.. Now that is NOT for me but I surely respect their choice.

I wouldn't know a current music group. Period. I am pretty square I guess with my music choices. and again, I am comfortable with it.

One observation I have made is that many people who don't go to movies it is for economic reasons. They truly do not want to spend the money. Even those who have plenty of money.. I also can respect that. They chose to spend a couple thousand for a trip to Vegas but consider a 7.50 movie ticket outrageous.

I truly would go crazy watching a movie with the commercial interruptions.. I have a projection TV & do on rare occasion see DVDS/ videos. I can truly share that I cannot do very much at "home sweet home" without series interruptions. So sitting down with the popcorn & beer & watching comfortably a movie here is practically non existent.

I am glad we live in a country where we can make choices.....what to do & how to spend the money we have... aren't you?

The psychological counseling that I had done with men from Korea, WW2 & Vietnam was quite painful & enlightening.

They did not want to share with family friends normally for one of three reasons.

1) The did not want to talk because they wanted to repress... battlefield as well as POW related..they did not realize that knocking this stuff into the subconscious really caused major chaos in their psyche.

2) They did some bad things that in war are considered acceptable but they could not reckon it with regular life. They killed the enemy. They may have killed innocents, made mistakes & killed comrades (friendly fire); killed very young enemy &watched the life slip from them . One man I recall it was a situation of a young German that looked like his own son.

3) They acted dishonorably/cowardly (in their minds)but came home to hero welcome. They may have NOT protected a fellow soldier, hidden from fighting, cried in front of other GI's.

Because many of them I saw as a result of my work as a hospital chaplain & many had very little time left, I encouraged them to share some of the stories with their families. some did. Amazing when one is ready to step into eternity, the sense of relief to clear out the troublesome shelfs of life.

What awful burdens so many people keep deep in their souls.

Gotta run.. will be late for church/ss. Have a nice weekend...be safe.. and remember..

Let us never forget that Carter started it all when he allowed the terrorists to take over Iran. He said he had read the Koran and sympathized with them. How naive can one get? We have another dunderhead trying to become president. God help us all!

Our once great democrat governor of Maryland, William Donald Schaffer, has called for his party to become more conserative. On his daily visit to McDonalds ordering his breakfast, he couldn't get the server to understand English to take his order. He publically called for English to be spoken by those serving the public. That didn't sit well with his fellow democrats. Neither did Bill Cosby's comments.

Clinton didn't hesitate to send our troops in harm's way all over the globe. Guess he doesn't count. The comment was made that in WW11 we were attacked. What was 911??? Did anyone challenge this statement??

He got in a lot of trouble with tinseltown when he, in disgust, derided Clinton in the Monica scandel. He recanted the next day. Guess why?

They hate him because he is happily married, religious, and they think a threat to "their way of life." The ACLU is even trying to take the cross out of the seal of Los Angeles.
