Why would he lie aboutt this? I know he is a media whore but this is just too sick to lie about. His lying would cause so much further greif to an already taxed family.

Some people don't need a reason to lie about everything they're lying about, they get so accustomed to lying they stopped considering if what they're saying is a lie or not.
I'm not sure he's lying though --- we're not sure what Nick was doing in Iraq or who was paying and funding his trips.

It is also possible Mikey opened his mouth BEFORE finding out Nick had told people he was pro-Bush.
