Only a few Freepers are that way. Most remember that they were newcomers once, too, and try to cut newbies some slack, especially if they make a great post like this one.
But then, there are those who just have nothing at all to say, so they post meaningless references to the date someone sighed up. Phooey on them!
I got similar treatment almost immediately after registering here, about six years ago.
Unflamed metal is too mushy to last on Free Republic.
I welcome this former lurker and now new member, Colban ,(I hope I spelled that right) who sounds like our kind of people to me.
