Agreed. These are TERRORISTS we are fighting, whether it be now, or back when these events took place. The Geneva Conventions may be the "right" way to treat POWs, but they only apply to nation states who signed them, to members of those national armies fighting on behalf of a "sanctioned" war, etc. This is why WE aren't obligated to follow the Geneva Conventions explicitly at GITMO, because the people at GITMO are ROGUE elements (Taliban, al Qaeda, etc.). But TERRORISTS don't follow the Geneva Conventions!!
I can't remember if Iraq signed the Conventions or not, so I don't know if we expected "fair" treatment of our POWs by Iraq's army during the war... or if we expected "no holds barred" treatment because they didn't subscribe to the Geneva Conventions.
