Ok, IF Nick Berg was in Iraq as one of Moore's spies, what are the odds that he just happened to be the guy picked up by the Al Qaeda nutcases? Is Michael Moore sick enough to have actually been pursuing an interview with Al Qaeda, using Nick Berg? Or is this even more twisted than that? I know I have a headache from it already.

Good question! And if true, how would Berg have gone about getting in touch with Al queda??

Yikes! I think Berg was up to his eyeballs in anit-American stuff...just like his dear old dad.

Maybe that's why Moore was the one who said that Disney wouldn't release it....maybe it really IS too hot to handle. Maybe it will NEVER be released.

Hs anyone seen this movie outside of Cannes "judges"?

You know better than to have to ask that question.

Or is this even more twisted than that?

I'm thinking it just might be.

I know I have a headache from it already.

Me, too.

Consider also Berg's demeanor in the video. He seemed strangely unafraid of his caports, quite at ease while reading the statement, etc. I've been wondering for awhile now if he thought he was just doing a video to help with "the cause"--and the beheading came as a complete surprise. Sometimes "sleeping with the enemy" can have unpleasant consequences.

Here's my take:

  1. Berg, for whatever reason, is poking around looking for insurgent contacts. Maybe he is working for Moore, maybe for himself.
  2. The FBI hears about his late night travels and decides to interview him.
  3. The bad guys see him talking to the FBI and decide he's dangerous, regardless of his loyalties.
  4. He's lured in by the jihadis -- people he had hoped to talk to. They pretend to be friendly, just before whipping out the knife.

This accounts for where he was an why. It also accounts for the father insisting it was Bush's fault. The FBI interview was the kiss of death.
