LOL, I have left off the border situation for the simple reason that Joe hadefuf hadn't vented enough over the recent oil prices

Only four times was the Presidents speech interrupted by applause. That alone tells you the speech was a failure. The audience was sitting on its hands, much more so than the audiences for most State of the Union addresses. What an odd metric. By that distorted reasoning, every major presidential foreign policy address from Kennedy's "Ich bin ein Berliner" to Reagan's "Tear Down this Wall" has been a flop. It is the message of a speech, not the local audience's reaction, by which it should be judged.
I have somewhat of a unique perspective on this particular speech since I did not see it but rather heard it on the radio. I remember noting at the time how immediate and forceful the applause was and how disciplined and quickly it subsided when the President resumed speaking. I think you may have confused the intent of the audience by underestimating their respect for their commander in chief and their reluctance to interrupt him.
To: Congressman Billybob
Very well written........but his audience wasn't the War College; that was merely the venue. The audience consisted of the American people and the citizens of Iraq. We may, from that vantage point, debate its success. I, for one, think it fell flat, if for totally different reasons.

Speaking of which...my youngest son had a "goat" burrito for lunch today. He found this great little place and it taking me there for lunch tomorrow. I'm sure it's owned and run by illegals.

Keep in mind that we have this clueless bomb thrower completely out of his realm, he is used to sticking up for leftist, while claiming to be a conservative

One has to remember the relationship between the speaker and the audience. Senior officers are going to maintain a respectable appearance in front of the Commander-In-Chief and the nation.
To: Texasforever
he was giving the Iraqis a chance to fight for their freedom. Today was a good day for us in Iraq; that must be why Joe is so ill (again)!

This is what Freeper Proud Legions said about the event ... he attended it.
In summary, the crowd was jazzed and showed they loved and admired this Commander in Chief.

Bush has let the military conduct this war And that's a good thing. Islamofascists respect power. Here at home, the speach writers seem to be coming up short. Too much PCism for my tastes.
Our guys aren't over there putting down a riot like LA after a Rodney King verdict, they're squashing religious zealots who see the west as infidels worthy of beheading.
I only hope our guys have the numbers and weapons necessary to carry out their mission with the least amount of casualties.
To: Texasforever
LOL, To be honest.... Joe Hadenuf is quite typical, he's just loud enough to qualify as a mouthpiece against FOX NEWS! He's just a slobbering interconnecting luckies who can make the calls,

It's very clear that he is out of his realm. You guys have been providing extremely well thought out bits of information and his responses seem quite clumsy in contrast.

I only hope our guys have the numbers and weapons necessary to carry out their mission with the least amount of casualties. Well according to both GW and Rumsfeld all the theater commanders have to do is ask. Believe me I don't want to see casualties and I was a bit disappointed in how Falujia turned out but it was the ground commander that made the call. Look, this is probably the biggest gamble any American president has ever taken and none of us, even GW at this point, knows the outcome. His plan relies solely on his faith in the Iraqi people and I don't know that I would have that kind of faith in our OWN people nowadays.

I liked what you have to say. It is a well thought out criticism, with many obvious references as to what the President COULD have said (but didn't).
