One thing we've learned about Iraq since the fall of Saddam Hussein is that the former dictator was a diligent record keeper. Coalition forces have found--literally--millions of documents. These papers are still being sorted, translated and absorbed, but they are already turning up new facts about Saddam's links to terrorism.
We realize that even raising this subject now is politically incorrect. It is an article of faith among war opponents that there were no links whatsoever--that "secular" Saddam and fundamentalist Islamic terrorists didn't mix. But John Ashcroft's press conference yesterday reminds us that the terror threat remains, and it seems especially irresponsible for journalists not to be open to new evidence. If the CIA was wrong about WMD, couldn't it have also missed Saddam's terror links?

This could theoritically cost Bush the election, but he probably feels that what he has accomplished since 9/11 is well worth it. Quite frankly we all should feel better knowing we have a leader who puts the nations safety and security above his own political desires. And the facts are quite clear, since 9/11 we have not had one domestic plane hijacked by terrorists. And since Bush has put this country on the offensive, we have not sufferred a major domestic terrorist attack.
Just last week I remember reading a report that the Intel community no longer feels his leg was amputated - just seriously injured.
An excellent read. Thanks for the ping. Adding to my list.
bumpage for later readingage...
Wouldn't it be funny that when the RATS unload their October suprise, the next morning at a nationally televised press conference, Bush announces that Bin Laden has been captured and that the link between Al Queada and Saddam has been established.
Has anyone read Artimus Fowl? It's a kid's book, but there's a direct reference to EIB.
“Article of faith” is an excellent way to describe it. Anti-war liberals are galactically dishonest when they imply that had such a link been established, they would have actually supported the war.
It’s also noteworthy that nobody argues against the connection betwee nour guests at Gitmo and 9-11. Faced with incontrovertible evidence that these people are our mortal enemies, the left wants to coddle them and make sure they wake up every morning with a mint on their pillows.
An Saddam/Al Qaeda link is ultimately irrelevant to liberals, who live and breathe to hate Geroge Bush, traditional morals, and a non-globalist view of the world. Nobody should take them seriously when they demand evidence for anything. Such a response on our part is giving them far more credit than they deserve.
