HELLO?????

She lied to the prosecutors; if she lied once, they can't believe another word she said.

BTW, for those keeping count, this makes at least two men besides Kobe that week.

Sex a few hours later does not say "emotional trauma" to me.

Besides the fact that her injuries are a big part of the prosecutors case. All one has to ask, Did the injuries occur with Bryant, or the second man? Reasonable doubt. If she lied to the police, any testimony she makes, is under a cloud.

How, exactly does this disprove rape?

It doensn't necessarily disprove rape, but it makes it nearly impossible to prosecute. The prosecutors in this case would be fools to go forward if this test is valid.

I have first hand knowledge of a woman who was raped coming on to someone who assisted her after the incident. (yes, hours after)

Was her rapist convicted?

And how will he get his reputation back?

LOL - what reputation - this guy is a scumbag even if he is innocent of rape. Fact is - had he not been cheating on his wife none of this would have happened.

I'm not so sure his reputation has been destroyed as much as his character has been revealed. At best, he is an adulterer and his loss of endorsements is simply a consequence of his immoral behavior.

So? means nothing She may have sought comfort in someone she trusted in this way.

After Kobe supposedly bruised her and caused her to bleed?

Only a nymphomaniac would behave as this woman has behaved.

All the rumors about her bipolar condition are obviously true.

She's looking promiscuous. That doesn't necessarily make her a liar.

The lying part comes in when she denied having sex after the alleged "rape," and when the prosecuters were led to believe that there was only semen testing DNA different than Bryant's on her UNDERWEAR, when in fact reported lab results are from samples taken from INSIDE her body.

Also, there is such a thing as "typical behaviors" of an abused victim. I know it's used in court in child sex abuse cases, and one can assume it may be used in rape cases. Victims of rape typically go home, take a scalding shower (emergency rooms also offer betadine douches which are eagerly accepted by women), and withdraw from the social scene for a while. Kobe's accuser, on the other hand, went out and had sex with someone. Very weird, and very untypical. That in itself might be brought out in court.

New evidence may incriminate the accuser, but I don't see how it make Kobe Bryant a better man.

Well, his reputation as a faithful husband was justifiably exploded.

But his reputation as a gentleman incapable of rape, well, that was eclipsed for a while. If he gets it back, he will blaze a path for others sullied by false accusations.

All of which is assuming, as I am, that the charge is not legitimate.

This girl obviously needs help. On the other hand, Kobe will probably drop 40+ on the wolves next game.

How will he get his reputation back? All he lost was endorsements. His fans still adore him.

It keeps him from doing life in prison.

How many men of lesser means are doing time due to the accusations by trollops like this one?

Adultery is one thing.

Criminal assault is quite another.

The prosecutors ought to drop this now instead of wasting money. I don't see how they could possibly get a conviction with this evidence in view.

If there's any credibility to this new evidence, I think they may have to. Obviously she didn't tell the police this prior to Kobe getting charged. The prosecution can't put her on the stand if they believe that she will lie. They could lose their law licenses if they tried. They have no case without her.

If I were the prosecutor, I'd ask for the charges to be dismissed. And if the girl's family complained publicly, I'd charge her with obstruction of justice and lying to the police.

I'm betting they all wish this thing had never happened.

Would she have accused a man with "fewer financial resources" of rape?

A lot of men have been accused of rape after consensual sex leads to pregnancy. You don't have to be particularly rich for this to happen.

If it ever does happen to you, the rape shield laws prevent an effective defense.

Lets socialize lawyers. Let rich and poor alike get the luck of the draw. It's no different than the state assigning you a brain surgeon.

if she was traumatized, what gave her the presence of mind to go have consensual sex with somebody else only hours later?

Twenty bucks?

The point is Kobe doesn't have to prove he didn't rape her; the prosecution has to prove he did. The rape charge rests on a "he said/she said" pivot. If she can be shown to have lied regarding sexual relations around the time the accusation was made, the prosecution cannot possibly demonstrate that rape occured "beyond a reasonable doubt."
