Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine is a Front Group for PETA and the Animal Rights Movement
Washington, DC Last week, Washington Post readers were exposed to old line bait and switch. The misnamed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) ran an ad designed to scare consumershook, line and sinkeraway from eating fish. Today the Center for Consumer Freedom exposes PCRMs fishy claims with its own Post ad, exposing the self-described medical charity as a front group for the animal rights movement. PCRM has undeniable ties to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the radical group that wants to end all consumption of beef, chicken, pork, eggs, dairy food -- and even fish, one of the healthiest foods on Americans plates.
Legitimate medical authorities like the American Heart Association and the American Dietetic Association recommend eating fish for better health, said Center for Consumer Freedom Executive Director Richard Berman. But PETAs extremists care more about fish than people, so their pseudo-medical front group is muddying the waters with animal-rights arguments masquerading as medical science.
To date, PETA has steered over $1.3 million to the misnamed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, whose president, Neal Barnard, also doubles as president of the PETA Foundation. The American Medical Association has publicly censured PCRM in the past for misrepresenting medical science.
Animal rights nuts are not credible medical authorities, Berman added. Americans who catch PCRMs anti-fish propaganda should toss it back. Its not worth swallowing.

I attended what was termed a "Watershed Festival" on Saturday.......bsically it was all about the ecosystem of this region - in amongst displays about hunting and fishing and crabbing and clamming there was this one table set up about poultry. At first glance it makes sense, since chickens outnumber people in this county by a margin of probably 1,000 to 1.
The innocuous name of the outfit is the only way I can figure out how they passed muster to be allowed to set up a display. The name was so innocuous that it now escapes me - but they were without a doubt a PETA outfit. Some of their literature had titles like "Friends not Food" and "What a chicken can be if it's free."
I quietly observed the table from a distance for about 30 minutes..........not one person got close enough to the table to pick up any of the literature, the woman sitting at the table was very obviously being ignored by most attendees, many of whom were wearing work shirts emblazoned with the word PURDUE, which has it's largest poultry processing plant located in this county and is one of, if not the largest employer in the county.
How really stupid are these people???????
I live in Virginia Beach, Norfolk is right next door, you should see the crap they do here, especially when the circus is in town.
i used to think that too....
