I'm more sanguine about the President's support level and prospects for re-election than perhaps you are at this juncture.

I ignore ALL these popularity polls the media have been jamming down our throats these past months - except one: When Sec. Rumsfeld was under attack from Congress and media, Americans by a 69-26 margin said he should NOT resign.

That's a tire-hits-the-road referendum on the President, his Administration and support for the War in Iraq. All this other stuff is garbage. When the American public were given a stark choice ... whether the President's point man on Iraq should stay or go ... they overwhelmingly voted stay.

November 3 is going to be a "stay or go" decision. I anticipate a similar outcome.

I agree with you completely.

Its hard to sit still and not know the unknowns, I believe the American voters feel the same as I do, but I don't know that for a fact. That is, they are tired of the bs the media is trying to stuff down our throats, I think the media has worked so hard at destroying America that they have destroyed theirselves.

Yep, now for my optimistic take on this election-- I see the Old MEdia as growing increasingly irrelevant. The masses get their news from Entertainment Tonight, the dinosaurs, soon to be extinct, watch network TV and read the papers, and the new generation finds it on the net, or hears it on talk radio.

The more time goes by, the more the liberal facade of lies crumbles.

Nicely put in perspective. I share your belief.

I agree with your assessment. At times, I can get "down" when I listen to the politicians, pundits, pollsters and polemists but that is on an emotional level. Intellectually, I must believe that many will approach election day stating that they are "undecided". When it comes time to pull the level or punch the hole, their sense of reason will be to stay the course. To do otherwise would be to tell the bad guys, in New York Times headlines, that their tactics work and that the American people will capitulate any time things get rough.

The President's speech last nite often gets critiqued through the lens of a super critical and biased press. We understand this to be true. But to the terrorist, the thug and especially the would-be dictator, they must be saying, "damn.... this guy never blinks". We may never know the true value of that but it is real - just look at Libya. Now, contrast that to the previous administration and its enabling rhetoric and actions. A stark contrast indeed - and one that voters will choose from in November.

(...politicians, pundits, pollsters and polemists...) ;>) ... I couldn't help myself.
