"We are losing the war in Iraq for one reason, we simply aren't as committed as the insurgents."
Show me another conflict or war with a lower percentage of casualties. I don't know what standard you are using to measure "winning" vs. "losing." The coalition is kicking the butts of the mideast nuts and that's the reason for their increased craziness, which WILL INCREASE the closer it comes to the turnover to Iraqi sovereignty.
Are you, in fact, a deeply embedded DU member; I suspect so.

Well said, Chu Gary!
All:
I felt that this part of the president's speech told the whole story in a nutshell as to why we are there. President Bush gets the big picture:
"The rise of a free and self-governing Iraq will deny terrorists a base of operation, discredit their narrow ideology, and give momentum to reformers across the region. This will be a decisive blow to terrorism at the heart of its power, and a victory for the security of America and the civilized world."
What I said, and I reiterate, is that the level of committment the insurgents have far exceeds their losses (just like the Viet Cong during the height of the conflict). This is always a losing proposition. Want proof? How in the hell did a ragtag group of mujahdeen get the best of the Soviet Union in Afghanistan?
Now go back to your dorm room a suck your thumb.
Oh, geez, I'm sorry, another "can't hack it in combat arms so I ran screaming into 'intelligence' because I'm so smart" veteran. Intel pukes make me sick. Don't get me started on the crap I saw at various Field Stations around the world, REMF.
