Why don't you tell us why Bush won't win?
The issue here is obvious. You're operating on a low-energy, lowest-common-demoninator emotion. Fear. The problem is yours, not GW's.
Why won't he win? Because the liberal media will turn even further against him. FReepers need to realize we are NOT the majority. The majority are the little sheeple cowering in the corner afraid of the dark. However those little sheeple come out to vote and they vote for whoever Pete and Dan tell them to vote for. Our challenage is how to change that mindset.
We could go door to door throughout the country and smash people's TV sets???
Well stated..and BTW, the insane premise of this article is that troops from undepmocratic nations will be used to foster democracy in Iraq.
What we have is a war we need to "close" on and we have the arm chair quarterbacks and politicians making the decisions.
What W should say is: "Git 'er done!"
I missed the sarcasm alert for the article.
Bush has already said that if the Iraqi people ask us to leave, we will.
Take your gloom and doom back to DU... Bush is going to wipe the floor with Kerry. Can't wait for the debates.
I guess that explains why Mondale beat Reagan in 1984. The liberal media, which never liked him, turned even further against him during the election. Yup, it's OVAH! Last one to leave please turn out the lights.
If Bush were to follow that absurd suggestion in your NewsMax post, I agree, we would be saying President Kerry. But Bush understands that stability is the most important goal in Iraq, and that to leave at this point means one of two things. Either a stable Iraqi government is not important in the war on terror, or he has given up on the war on terror. So I am glad that NewsMax is not in charge of strategic policy.
Perhaps the President won't make it in November, but I would rather he lose the election with honor than to follow that idiotic suggestion.
"My fellow Americans - pay no attention to the crybabies, whiners, terrorist appeasers, wussies, and America haters of the media and of the Democratic party. We're going to win this thing and make the world a safer place despite their best efforts to turn our country into a slave of those who hate us and wish us ill.
Sure, some of our folks have made some mistakes but if you were to take a close look at some of their biggest critics, you would find the true meaning of words like "atrocity" and "pornography".
For the most part, those who oppose us are a Godless and soulless lot who would sell their kid sisters into prostitution before telling a simple truth or doing a good deed. But worry not, those "liberal" pieces of trash will not prevail.
It will take more than polls that are based on lies, and commissions designed to score political points at the expense of our great country, to sway me from my path. We will prevail - that is my solemn promise to you, and you know, that unlike them, I do my best to keep my promises. That's what separates the honorable men and women from the scum of the earth.
Good night and God bless..
Bullsh!t
His enemies in the lamestream press and TV would have a field day, while his supporters would simply think he'd taken leave of his senses!
You are simply wrong, thats why.
If freedom loving Iraqis lived under the Baathist's heel for the last 30 years its because they were unable to stand up to them. Absent some sign that they have become able in the last few months, we have to assume that within two weeks of our withdrawal the Baathists will shoot their way back into power. Those Iraqis crazy enough to believe in us will be hunted down and killed. There is not yet any counter-force in Iraq that can stand up to them if the Marines withdraw.
When will they be capable of handling their own security? There isn't a time-table. They are when they are. To pull out a day sooner is to risk everything we fought for.
It is time to let the Muslim world police itself
Really? Where is the evidence of a muslim world that can produce humane government left to themselves? Where is the evidence that another brute won't take power the day we leave? It isn't enough to push a despot out of power; a dictatorship is not a single man, it is a mindset that must be replaced or it will reconstitute itself.
getting out of Iraq is a necessity if Bush wants to win in November
There are more important things in life than winning an election. If we leave behind a mess in Iraq we have very big problems on the horizon. As bad as a President Kerry would be for this country, I don't see the advantage for Bush to do Kerry's work for him. We went into Iraq with a plan; we have to get up every day and work the plan until the job is done. That means a constitution, that means elections, that means a security force that is capable of facing down the Baath, and it means giving humane government there a fighting chance. Anything less is a defeat and a disaster whoever wins in November.
And as long as Newsmax is enumerating Bush's foregin policy accomplishments, why not mention the opening of Libya?
Two points:
1) We will, in effect, be "out" of Iraq when we turn power over to the Iraqi people on June 30th. Just as we are "out" of the Balkans.
2) President Bush seems to have planned to make himself very visible over the next couple of months (June and July). Whenever people see alot of him, his poll numbers tend to go up. As long as he stands in front of the American people and confirms our steadfastness with a high degree of confidence that he is famous for, he will take the lead once again and mitigate the small lead that Kerry will move into after the DNC in late July.
