Many of the worst abuses that have come to light at the Abu Ghraib prison happened on a single November day amid insurgent violence in Iraq, many U.S. soldiers deaths and a breakdown of the guards' command structure.

Nov. 8 was the day U.S. guards took most of the infamous photographs: soldiers mugging in front of a pile of naked Iraqis, prisoners forced to perform or simulate sex acts and a hooded prisoner in a scarecrowlike pose with wires attached to him.

"The orders came directly from the intelligence community, to soften up the detainees so that intelligence information could be gathered to save the lives of soldiers in the field," said Paul Bergrin, a lawyer for Sgt. Davis.

Much overlooked detail in this whole story.

Heard Drudge say last night.....he's tired of the abuse story and photos so he's decided he won't be showing the Saddam Hussein torture photos.

Wonder how much Drudge got paid for that decision?

Many of the worst abuses that have come to light at the Abu Ghraib prison happened on a single November day

And yet, the media drips them out over weeks to make the appearance of a long-term, ongoing scandal of monumental proportions, rather than one of some unsupervised ignorami with too much time and a digital camera.

Total BS. How much tactical info are these guys locked up in Abu Ghraib for a couple of months going to have about current insurgent operations?

Who are the insurgent leaders, who hides them, where, who supplies their weapons, etc. Up-to-the-minute tactical info isn't the only kind needed. Strategy involves systemic info, an understanding of which is critical to operations evaluation and prediction.

Abu Ghraib "abuses" have given the righteous a field day from their comfy homes; warm and safe offices. It is no worse than the "Tailgate" scandal, trumped up by feminists...good men were fired over that also; are we to do the same for our enlisted men and women and their commanders? What right do those not in the thick of this battle have to say what was or was not appropriate? How can any of us not there know the pressure of being alone with a room full of people that would kill you in a heart beat – they have no rules....

It is unfortunate that the digital camera has gained more fame than ever, but, Hey! this is a war using all technology and humiliation is the first step in interrogation...anyone who has served in the military knows that.

All those who don’t want success in Iraq etc. use America’s Achilles Heel POLITICAL CORRECTNESS! We are at War with a formidable enemy who wears no uniform and comes from all directions...these are the Jihads who want YOU the Infidel to vanish from the face of the earth. The media, who are making all this bad press possible are more for the Militant Islamic than for his own countryman – the rest are being led by fearful leaders, who are being blackmailed into thinking 9/11 can happen to them at any given moment. So like Spain, shall we run away? Let the terrorists blackmail us just as Attila The Hun did thousands of years ago? Shall we appease, another form of blackmail? Or shall we stand firm for our beliefs and values which are with us today because we fought for them then....and we must fight for our freedom now. It will never end because there will always be those who like George Seros and the Militant Muslims who want to enslave us to their way of doing things – like give up freedom of religion – our liberties in all we do and think.

Put the media on ignore, go to the Internet for truth. We’re Americans! Be Proud of it – warts and all!
