Michigan - Tornado Warning in Ingham and Livingston Counties (Heads up Shiawasse and Genessee too)
WHMI radio | 5-23-04 | Dan from MI

Posted on 05/23/2004 2:58:35 PM PDT by Dan from Michigan

I heard the siren here in Howell. Thought it was a test since the weather is clear here. I checked the radio and the Weather Channel and found we got a warning, and Conway Twp (15 miles NW of here) was specificly mentioned.

Till 6PM Ingham, 6:25 Livingston

Shiawasse County borders Conway to the North, and Genesee is just north of us.

Man, oh man! I remember days like that well. When the sky turns yellow and starts to swirl, it's time to head to the storm cellars. Me, these days I prefer earthquakes ... 6.5 or under if you please. Keep safe, Dan.

I remember them too. When the scenario you describe started up and decent ( sensible ) God fearing Americans were heading for the cellar I got to go out the door and go to work ;-)

great weather days in Michigan.

My wife and kids were visiting the by-laws in Grand Rapids. Started to head back to Mt. Clemens and turned around when all the warnings started flying around.

She doesn't like driving in garbage weather, so that's not a bad plan.

According to the latest NWS doppler display, there's a pretty good rotation to the NE of Flint.

I live in a tornado alley area down here in Georgia, and have had some really nasty close calls. What really worries me is that I live in a slab house, which means no cellar. I've seen plenty of houses around mine, where only the front brick and concrete steps remained. That makes for a rather scary picture to me. Sometimes I think of installing a tornado shelter in the backyard, of course I'll never build it.

I've lived down there where you speak, in houses and mobile homes as a kid. Yah it can get exciting. Now I've gone North but it can still be interesting.

Shelters are good but it all comes down to when its your turn its your turn.

Very nice hook echo now in the center of the county east of Flint. Rotations at all levels of the radar. Gotta be a tornado on the ground.
