It would be nice to pass a constitutional amendment that forces all Federal elected officials to sware an oath, to disavow any tie to a socialist or communist agenda, sware that socialism and communism are enemies of a free people,and to also make it illegal for any member of congress to join, endorse or otherwise be associated with communism and socialism.

There used to be similar oaths for public employees in the '50's. They were called Loyalty Oaths and were eventually deemed to be UN-constitutional by SCOTUS.

It's a Catch-22. It's "constitutional" to be against the Constitution, even if you swore to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution". As an elected public servant it is your duty. As a citizen, however, it violates your individual constitutional rights to infringe on your activities to destroy the same Constitution that created your position as a member of Congress in the first place.
