"What's the difference between this and the regular CG courtesy inspection?"

Regular Coast Guard and some Coast Guard Auxiliary members
do courtesy inspections on commercial vessels.
Coast Guard Auxiliary do recreational vessel inspections.
I'm qualified for recreational and am training for commercial.
