Except for one thing, Scott....Iraq said all 150 were destroyed to comply with the cease fire and UN resolutions. It didn't say 10% were duds lying in the desert. Did you think of this when you were in Iraq and start scouring the desert? What other kinds of duds are out there? Why wasn't it the Mustard gas shells that were used in Iran-Iraq war since there must be thousands or tens of thousands of those duds lying around. 10% duds lying in the desert with all those terrorist training camps is a direct threat to the United States both at home and abroad.
Scott, your team did not find all the WMD's in Iraq and our troops are risking their lives everyday because of this failure.
Ten of these shells were tested using inert fill - oil and colored water. Ten others were tested in simulated firing using the sarin precursors. And 150 of these shells, filled with sarin precursors, were live-fired at an artillery range south of Baghdad. A 10 percent dud rate among artillery shells isn't unheard of - and even greater percentages can occur.
This makes absolutely no sense. If you're firing rounds to test a projectile, and some don't go off, wouldn't you dig them up to see what is wrong? Isn't that the purpose of a test program?
