Online Dating Separates Donkeys and Elephants

Ever go out with someone only to realize your date's a hybrid car-driving environmental activist, when your philosophy is, hey, you only live once? Or the other way around?

Such polarizing issues are the force behind RepublicanSingles.com, DemocraticSingles.com and SingleRepublican.com, new Web sites that aim to narrow down the online dating minefield to people who share common political views.

"With the war, people are getting more politically minded, especially in an election year," said Tony Sandoval (search), CEO of California-based Terra9 Singles, the company behind RepublicanSingles.com and DemocraticSingles.com. “A significant number of people know they want to find a Democrat or a Republican.”

The three above-mentioned sites, all of which launched in the last six months, challenge the "opposites attract" mantra by separating John Kerry supporters from Bush-Cheney enthusiasts — and operate on the premise that when it comes to finding love, donkeys dig donkeys and elephants prefer elephants.

He was shocked I had guns in the house.

And he was straight? (I couldn't pass that up).

You've just described 95% of the single women in the Twin Cities MN area.

The women here also believe that anything about the man that is above average is really a lie. So I've been resorting to resume deflation. Hide the business ownership, hide the racing bicycles, it doesn't fit their ideal of an average mediocre metro.

Then there's the one who did a google search on my name, one of the hits was a creep with a similar name who was a prominent white supremacist, who is currently in a federal prison (didn't matter, in her mushy mind I WAS HIM! That wound up going to the lawyers)

Or how bout this:

The want a guy over 6'4", athletic build, no kids, and makes over $100K, age 28 -39.

BUT

They are 5'1", 'average' build (or "a few extra pounds"), no income or education listed, have kids at home, and are 35-45 years old.

OR

They are 39, never been married but figure 'its time' and are holding out for the 'perfect guy'.

you proved my point.

"My wife, who has a female cousin...."

I've heard stories that they exist too but never actually met one.

Leftist leanings are a major turn-off!

This is true, but all indications are that, in the case of the liberal women I've known, male conservative leanings are a turn-on.

Even the most liberal women recognize the truth when they hear it or see it. The problems arise from what appears to be a characteristically female hardheadedness insisting on viewing the world from a perspective of fantasy or ignorance. Conservative men had better be ready to defend their positions in a firm but respectful way if they want to make any political headway with them.

Of course it's much easier to date a conservative woman. Not only will she share your values, she'll probably also be a knockout.

My wife just wishes the GOP were more enviro-friendly. Other than that, she's mostly onboard.

Sheesh. What a pant-load of a comment. I see my wife's cousin at least once a week. Try again.

LOL

It's weird, the women who are 5-9 or taller typically only want the man to be their height. Some even are OK with shorter guys.

But for some reason a LOT of the 5-1, 5-2 crowd have 5-11 or even 6 feet as a MINIMUM height requirement.

I like little women, but I just find their sense of entitlement laughable.

Or they are 40 +-, single, never married, and only want a military officer.

As an experiment, I ran an add WITHOUT any income and sent notices to tons of women. Very little response. Then the only thing I changed was my income. Boosted it up to 150K+....TONS of emails and from the same women!

Ha!

HAHA

I'm only 27 and pretty good looking so even with little income I was able to get some 'winks' and email responses. But I KNOW if I put my income up high I'd get an ENORMOUS amount of response. That's what disgusts me about many women(or most?) They are sexual mercenaries.

Even if I had money, I'd be tempted to make pretend I didn't have it to insure I met the right kind of woman.

Another issue is that men FAR outnumber women on these things and thus women can pick and choose, and often are overwhelmed by the amount of responses they get. Fortunately, my competition appears to be of the "hey, let's kick it" variety and thus I spark more initial interest with a well-worded response that actually displays interest in the individual.

On the other hand, dating (and perhaps eventually marrying a Donkey) gives you the opportunity to "show them the light" and puts another vote in the "R" column come November.

Been there, done there.

Frankly, I don't know how Mary Matalin and Serpenthead have lasted this long.

They hug and kiss all the way to the bank!

My problem is that the women Im interested in aren't interested in me, and the women that are interested in me, Im not interested in.

Not suprising. Most women don't want to meet bums.

Isn't that problem typical of most people?

What you need to do is find someone you might be interested in and throw aside your mental blocks on actually liking them as much as they might like you.

And make plenty of cheese, if you don't already ;)

"Leftist leanings are a major turn-off!"

For me, stupidity is a turn off, as is pseudo-intellectualism. That knocks out 95% of liberal males. Add nasty, vindictive control freaks who are easily manipulated by queers, black racist malcontents and domineering she-males, and that about covers them all.
