FDA: Gay Men May Not Donate Sperm
NEW YORK CITY - The Food and Drug Administration will announce today a new policy that says any man who openly acknowledges having sex with another man in the last five years will not be allowed to make anonymous sperm donations, reports The New York Times.
By strict definition, the news isn't really news for New Yorkers. The Empire State already bars gay men from donating sperm without providing their name, while the majority of nation's sperm banks have similar restrictions, citing concerns over AIDS as the primary reason.
But the FDA's ruling is setting a precedent some feel is not for the benefit of all.
''It's one thing to base these rules on legitimate scientific concerns," Matt Foreman, executive director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force told the Times, saying he and his group strongly denounce the FDA's decision.
"But it's another to reinforce baseless stereotypes.''
The FDA has said the new ruling isn't based on stereotypes, but on the need to implement more rigorous laws governing the regulation for the use of human tissue, a practice limited mostly to corpses.
Such lack of regulations, the FDA claims, have led to at least one death and countless injuries. In 2001, Brian Lykins died after surgery because the bone transplant he received was infected with bacteria.
An investigation after Lykin's death revealed the cadaver the tissue was extracted from had been unrefrigerated for over 18 hours.
Under the FDA's new rules, all donors must be tested for infections with HIV hepatitis B and C, syphilis and the human form of mad cow diseases. Sperm donors must also be screened for sexually transmitted diseases, including chlamydia and gonorrhea.
In addition, the FDA demands health care professionals ask donors a series of questions regarding their personal lives.
"If the donor is dead, the questions must be asked of a family member or doctor who is familiar with the medical history of the donor," the FDA said.
Sexually active gay men and people who use drugs will be barred from donations.
Destroy that DNA line! Yest some are born homosexual - but they do not procreate so that cuts down on their soiling the human race...
It is those that have CHOSEN to be homosexuals that are the most dangerous to our species. Those are the ones we must cull.
It would really help if they screened restaurant workers as well.

But, but, but, AIDS isn't a gay disease. It affects everyone. Heterosexuals are at risk too, in fact, heteros will soon be infected at rates equal to gays. It's true; I read that about 15 years ago.
Logically, male homosexuals, as evidenced by their choice of partners, aren't interested in procreation. If they were they would find a female partner. So what would motivate them to try to make a deposit at the bank?

AIDS is nature's way of culling biological deviants (note that it's rampant among heavy drug users too). Once people find a cure for it, nature will strike back with something even nastier.
The same thing that drives practically every aspect of their lives: complete and total narcissism.

I'm not a big fan of the whole gay "marriage" thing, nor do I think gays should adopt- but many of them apparently do want to play house, and raise a kid.

Pretty nasty from my viewpoint, but it suggests that even perverts might want offspring.

I was encluding the turks in the aforementioned story. I think one guy wanting to hump another is...nasty, but okay, maybe it's not "perverse."
I think it's something between one guy and another guy...but it shouldn't involve government protection. Or, I guess, government harrassment.
Two polyamorous girls, however, should be required, dependant upon the aggreate pulchritude present during the perverse perversions performed, to videotape all perversions for proper perusement.
