CIA: Chalabi Possibly Spied for Iran

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraqi Governing Council member Ahmad Chalabi (search), once a darling of the American government, may have passed classified U.S. information to Iran, Fox News has confirmed.

U.S. troops and Iraqi police on Thursday suddenly surrounded and raided Chalabi's house — and police also searched offices of his organization, the Iraqi National Congress.

CIA sources told Fox News there are reports that the INC passed information to Iran, but as far as what type of information, the sources said that isn't known for sure.

Defense officials also told Fox News there was speculation that INC members allegedly shared information with Iran (search) and misused funds and property belonging to the Iraqi Governing Council.

"I say we deliver him to Jordan, He has already been sentenced to 22 years in prison for fraud by the Jordaian Courts"

That's probably the best plan after he testifies against Kofi in the UN Oil-For-Food trial.

There's a picture of Bush arm-in-arm with Chalabi? Geez.

The problems with the Kurds have calmed down, but they will be back.

First, the Kurds are not truly unified. They have some serious political rifts that end in bloodshed.

Then there is the fact they actually want territory in Iran and Turkey and I believe a former Soviet Union.

The entire region has basically the same problems as the Balkans. The borders are artificial, and the areas with a majority have little enclaves of the people they hate the most in the world.

The Kurds have been cooperative with us, but they aren't saints, just haven't been in power/

Dear me, no. It's of Chalabi smiling wide & wearing that brown suit at the moment when President Bush surprises the troops.

Doubt if I can find it.

Chalabi was willing to tell anybody anything to get put in charge of Iraq. Unfortunately, he bamboozled our administration but good. He was invited to the State of the Union 2004. He's the troll in the grey suit right behind Laura Bush.

I can feel sorry for him. But he should still be executed as a spy.

LOL!

But, from what I understand, with the new regulations, the crotch section must not be placed directly over his nose.

This is HUGE! Chalabi is proven to be the worst kind of mercenary, bamboozling scumbag...

In about 2 hours the media will find a way to blame this on the Bush Administration.

There are people who will pay to have that done to them.
(No, I'm not one of them.)

Agreed. Regarding merit, Iraq should be partitioned, and the Kurds should get the North. Exxon should get the South. The Central should be turned into a penal colony ala Botany Bay.

Ah... Fer cryin' out loud! If you catch someone spying like this, you don't go and toss their house; you turn them and use them to pass along bogus information. Sheesh.

Agreed, The Turks have had the most problems with the Kurds, and if the Kurds have anything to worry about, it's the Turks.

But if what is being speculated about Chalabi's passing classified info to the Iranians is true, Chalabi should be jailed and flown to Jordan.

I also don't believe the NSA, CIA, DIA or any other Intel gathering agency we have, based our WMD conclusions solely on what, (this snake oil salesman) Chalabi had to say. I believe Chalabi knew he was not gonna play a major role in the provisional government that will be formed in July, and unlikely to be elected to any high position in the coming elected government, and decided to side with Al-Sadr and the Iranian Mullah's in Iran. I say we turn his ass over to Jordan, after all, he is a fugitive from justice in Jordan

Chalabi was positioning for a run for the presidency. He apparently made a deal with Iran for their backing.

He got caught!

Not to mention the lousy intel and crap he has been serving up for the millions in support that he has gotten, dating back to the Clinton admin.

Iran is the real snake in the grass, and always has been however.

They cannot afford to have a western or near western style government in their backyard.

Which, coincidently, is exactly what we are doing. That "is" the plan!~

Yes and yes again. I hope (and I imagine) that our guys are on top of this. As Cheney said, (paraphrasing): "the path to eventual peace will not be a straight line".
