MADONNA is reportedly to be planning her most shocking stage performance yet on her forthcoming 'RE-INVENTION' world tour.

Fans will see the star being "frazzled" in an electric chair, and images of people killed in Iraq will be shown on a huge video screen.

According to today's (May 20) Sun newspaper, the show will also contain simulated lesbian sex when Madonna tangos with a female dancer, and a parade of scantily-clad pregnant women will appear during 'Papa Don't Preach'.

After her performance of 'Lament', from the 1996 musical 'Evita', the stage will be plunged into darkness. There will be a flash of fireworks and Madonna will be seen strapped in an electric chair.

A big anti-war statement will be made during her 2003 Number One single 'American Life'. The sound of bombs dropping will be linked with onstage video footage of troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

During her cover of the John Lennon classic 'Imagine', she will break down in tears in front of pictures of starving children.

Madonna has been putting the finishing touches to the massive production, which is costing more than £1million.

The tour opens at Los Angeles Forum next Monday (May 24) and arrives in the UK in August.

Someone mentioned seeing this stunt pulled by Alice Cooper in 1970 or so - not an original idea (in case someone thought she had one).

I'm pretty sure Screamin' Jay Hawkins was doing this in the late fifties. Then he'd emerge from the coffin, singing "I Put a Spell On You!"

Well, I found this on the web:

"Madonna will kick of her World Tour 2004 on June 1 in San Francisco and will continue to play arenas in 32 US markets, followed by performances in 12-15 European markets as well as four dates in Israel. "

Yawn. Seems quite predictable, and downright formulaic to me.

Maybe she can break out her wallet and help feed them instead of exploiting them.

Hopefully all the equipment will function correctly. I would hate to hear there was some sort of horrible electrical accident and she got fried like a greasy pork chop and everybody cheered because they thought it was part of the show.

And this, of course, will sway the election.

After which, we can all run around naked and have sex with Madonna, Cher and Barbra Streisand.

Can't wait.

>> The Eurinals will no doubt give her a 15 minute standing ovation.

I'm not going, even if she spends 15 minutes standing at a Eurinal.

Maybe Madonna's buddy, Sandra Bernhard,
will join her for some on stage antics.

Madonna might have been able to shock in 1984, but in 2004 she is just pathetic.

Hey cool! I didn't break a single official forum rule in my post, and still managed to offend to the point of censure!

Perhaps it was my unfortunate placing of the word "crusty" that did it!

I would only ask that any FReepers who attend this show please scream "ZOT!!!" at the top of their lungs during the electric chair bit.

32 cities, or multiple dates in a few cities?
Like four in L.A., three in New York, etc.?

Societal issues - One example of why Islamists hate America?

The Islamist Egyptian philosopher, Sayyid Qutb who lived in America in the late 1940's, was said "to be shocked by America’s 'sexual freedoms' and other liberal ideas about women and society".

He saw the danger of our growing liberty society and was concerned those with "liberal ideas" would campaign against the teachings of Islam.

Qutb had a brother, Muhammad, a Saudi professor of Islamic Studies who taught and infamous student,Osama bin Laden. Recognized for his writings, “In the Shade of the Qur’an”, he "set forth the Koranic principles to turn Islam into a political movement to create a new society – one that would be the opposite of a 'liberal society'". That liberal society he opposed was the United States, as he believed we had lost our way.

Qutb taught religion was the issue "central to human behavior, and survival". America, he said, " had separated the sacred from the secular, sowing the seeds of atheism and a disregard for human life".
