Not really --- I would just as soon have my kids go to school for 3 or 4 hours but only go to learn. Skip all the "health", the lunch-social hour, the movies, etc. Homeschooling parents can get it all done in an hour or so which tells you the 7 hours kids spend at school is mostly wasted time.

I agree with you, being a homeschooling parent.
The last day my daughter was in school was the day before Christmas break. It was snowing to beat the band and our district was open. I had volunteered to help with the "Holiday Party" and decided it was too snowy to go home.

I followed the class to Spanish. There, three classes were dumped into a room to watch "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" recorded off CBS. It wasn't even in Spanish. The Gym teacher and the Spanish teacher sat in the back and ate Blimpies.

I looked around and thought, "What the h@ll is she here for?" By the Grace of God and many good FReepers (who helped convince my hubby), she is home. Now she (at six) has started onto the Alpha Omega 3rd Grade curriculum and my four year old can read and do simple sums.

No one cares where they sit.
