I do not dislike latinos as they are fellow human beings, and I also realize not all latinos are in favor of what is happening here, but our elected officials don't care.

I know, I was shocked when I found that out. Our roads are going to disrepair, all because more schools need to be built, not modernized.

Yep... it's not about disliking people, it's about politicians DOING THEIR JOB. Why when they are elected, they go and do something completely different? I'm getting very frustrated and hence I get sick of discussing politics sometimes because I care more than my elected officials.

Something like half of Hispanics identify themselves as white on census documents, while the race baiters classify anyone with a drop of Hispanic blood as Latino, just like Cameron Diaz. Families with nothing but Castillian blood from the minute Cortez stepped foot in Mexico are considered the same as a Guatemalan Indian who can't even speak Spanish.

Many Latinos insist their kids learn English. Don't get too shook up just yet.

It isn't as bad as Europe's Arab immagration.
What does Hispanic mean anyway?
Wouldn't a better identification be mezito, Ameridian and White for Latin America?.

Why have identification at all?

They praise the latinos and their efforts

Those politicians sing their praises hoping to win favor and expecting, when latinos reach the peak of their political power, that the majority of latinos will overlook the fact their representatives aren't themselves latino.

BTW, as far that's concerned many Latinas would be more than happy to tell you the difference. A lot of Castillian Spanish hate being associated with anything 'less than white'.

True. They will want their own elected officials of their own race. Hence why the term "La Raza" is often used. I asked what it meant, the person who answered me was quite uncomfortable, and told me it meant the people. Many years later, I found out it means "the Race".

Oh, yes, there are a lot of backgrounds in South America, referred to as Latinos, or hispanics. They refer to themselves as varying backgrounds, Argentine-Italians, and many many others.

"This adds up to a tremendous challenge in terms of the need to empower Latinos to be able to help California's economy,"

Is he saying more Latinos need to hold jobs to pay taxes?

I don't trust the government as far as listing anything racial. They've never been consistent. It's none of their damn business anyway. They use the stats for their own pet agendas and as far as Latinos or spanish speaking people are concerned, they shouldn't bother.

It's time that our government insist that immigrants assimilate
into american society or live elsewhere. We are quickly
losing our heritage because we have allowed foreigners
to colonize major portions of our country.

I know where you are coming from. I believe Latinos have been a majority longer than just now. At least in Los Angeles County It is not serving their purpose now to list them as a majority anywhere.

Not only assimilate, but relinquish their dual citizenship with their own country. Check the wording on the 14th amendment.

I think the statistic is misleading. California is toward the bottom of the country for per-student spending on education--if not in absolute terms, certainly relative to the cost of living. The state spends more because Prop 13 caps local property taxes so local authorities shoulder a much lower share of expenses. Property taxes are very low, income taxes are high, school spending is low.

Teddy Roosevelt said many decades ago, "There is no room in America for hyphenated Americans".

It won't serve a liberal's purpose that's for sure.

That's true and all this 'celebrating diversity' stuff is CRAP.

Agreed.

And when the "Reconquista" is complete and they have reclaimed all lost territories, including the Louisiana Purchase, the new Rio Grande will be the Mississippi.

Then the "La Raza" types will be pouring across that river to escape the squalid Hellhole they made of their "new" lands.

Look at the border states on both sides - Baja/CA, Sonora/AZ, NM, Chihuahua/TX and Coahuila/TX.

Both sides looked the same before the gringos took over. Which side now shows marked prosperity while the other is still mired in poverty?
