How does that prove that profiling endangers the life of the President? I don't think anyone here has argued that it is the end-all-be-all of security but it is a legitimate tool. What you don't and really can't see is how many attempts have been thwarted.

Oh, do you really think profiling was in use in 1865? And I'm sure you know that the Secret Service didn't start looking after Presidents until 1901, right?

Give it a rest.

If supporters are given favorable proximity based on their outward appearances, an opportunity is created for someone who has ill intent and is willing to undertake the great difficulty (LOL) of posing as a supporter. Hinckley's attempt proved this.
