There seems to be two different thoughts about horses on this forum, and there always has been.

There are people like me who have used horses to do a job, and that's all they ever were - a tool.
I didn't fall in love with them anymore than I fell in love with my tractor.
I only had one horse I named. The rest was, "that sorrel mare", "that buckskin", or, "that stupid Ap".

Some people put horses above any other animal.
I don't.

I admitted I am biased. I value some animals more then others when it comes to making them a food source.

I can't tell you the name of the movie, but a line in it went:

KID TO COWBOY: Good looking horse Mister, what is its name?

Cowboy: I never name anything I might have to eat, kid.

I didn't fall in love with them [horses]anymore than I fell in love with my tractor.

Your tractor never got you out of a late spring snow storm in the High Sierras, like my horse, "Barney" did when I was 16.
