As a mother I am absolutely horrified at what happened to Nicholas Berg. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain that his parents are enduring. As a human being I am also horrified by the lack of tolerance that we demonstrate towards one another.
Until we have leaders who are courageous enough to put aside stubborn ignorance and use diplomacy, we will never experience true peace. That means President Bush, Osama bin Laden, and British Prime Minister Tony Blair all need to cool it and franly, grow up. The world's problems aren't all that complicated - they're basically about turf and disagreements about religion and race. Tolerance is the answer to these issues.
I hope that someday my son has as much compassion and courage as Nicholas Berg. I pray that the United States will be freed from the bondage of its corrupt government and intolerant citizens.

As a friend of a mother, whos son was on the 90th floor of the first tower on 911 and does not even have a body to bury, I am horrified by this womans comments.

"Diplomacy" will not resolve differences in core, fundamental belief systems. Our (the west) fundamental belief system as taught by our God is peace on earth, good will to men.

Nice to hear from a swing state voter. I think John Kerry should be shown this letter and should address specifically how he will achieve true peace for America by convincing Tony Blair to grow up, and diplomatically forcing Osama Bin Ladin to be more tolerant.
