When Attorney General John Ashcroft appeared before the September Commission, he revealed that the much criticized wall, the Department of Justice policy limiting communication between law enforcement and intelligence agents, was put in place by Jamie Gorelick, while serving as deputy attorney general for President Clinton.

You mention Gorelick made the wall higher. In that article Gorelick says (not unexpectedly) she made it lower.
Do you (or anyone reading this)have any articles I can read that go into that contradiction in detail?

Gorelick Caught In Lie - Gorelick Says She Did Not Author or Sign the "WALL" Memo

Gorelick Caught In Lie - Gorelick Claims She Did Not Author or Sign the Memo That Bears Her Name and Initials.
When asked specifically by CNN's Wolf Blitzer if she wrote the "memorandum in '95 that helped establish the so-called walls between the FBI and CIA," Gorelick distanced herself from the matter:
"No, and again, I would refer you back to what others on the commission have said. The wall was a creature of statute. It's existed since the mid 1980s. And while it's too lengthy to go into, basically the policy that was put out in the mid-nineties, which I didn't sign, wasn't my policy by the way, it was the attorney general's policy, was ratified by Attorney General Ashcroft's deputy as well in August of 2001. So we are just going to move on from this. This is not a basis for resignation."

It seems to be the definitive item in this issue.

Yes it is the definitive item in this issue.

It is odd that you make use of a moniker searchmaster when you seem to prefer to bother folks with questions which could be answered with the simplest of searches.

From this thread:

Mr. Ashcroft pointed out that the wall was raised even higher in the mid-1990s, in the midst of what was then one of the most important antiterror investigations in American history--into the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. On Tuesday the Attorney General declassified and read from a March 4, 1995, memo in which Jamie Gorelick--then Deputy Attorney General and now 9/11 Commissioner--instructed then-FBI Director Louis Freeh and United States Attorney Mary Jo White that for the sake of "appearances" they would be required to adhere to an interpretation of the wall far stricter than the law required.

The Gorelick Rosetta Stone aaa
Gorelick's Wall was not just a monument to political correctness and lawyer-think run amok, it was a strategic keystone of the Clinton Administration's wholesale auction of America's security, sovereignty and economy.

If my request was offensive in any way...I apologize.
I was not trying to put you on the spot.
I have noticed (in my week of hanging around at FR) that many peeps have links at hand for the topics they discuss.
I just thought you might have one on hand.

I will not be so quick to ask for them in the future

Sorry

Heya
I am a novice in this forum and didn't think to search the forum first. I usually use Yahoo for my searches, and figured I would get thousands and thousands of hits for a search like '+Gorelick +memo +wall +clinton' (actually came out to 107k hits). I will certainly search FR first before posting on a thread in the future.
Your right, moniker doesn't suit me here, I'll prolly change it.

Thnx fer the link

"I'm enormously impressed," said 9-11 Commisioner Jamie Gorelick (right), "that laypeople with no powers of subpoena, with no access to insider information of any sort, could put together a very powerful set of questions and set of facts that are a road map for this commission. It is really quite striking. Now, what's your secret?"
