"There's definitely a cover-up," the witness, Sgt. Samuel Provance, said. "People are either telling themselves or being told to be quiet."
Provance, 30, was part of the 302nd Military Intelligence Battalion stationed at Abu Ghraib last September. He spoke to ABCNEWS despite orders from his commanders not to.
"What I was surprised at was the silence," said Provance. "The collective silence by so many people that had to be involved, that had to have seen something or heard something."
Garib should read Gharib.
Ghraib
Is he referring to CNN's silence about Saddam's torture chambers.
Sounds like a good soldier to me.
Soon to be Ex- Sgt. Samuel Provance
He gave his name and unit? Hmmmm.
Sounds like a whining mama's boy who has violated his duty and wants 15 minutes of fame.
I bet it all comes down to the commander saying, "If you weren't involved, don't get involved", or something to that effect.
Note the part where he didn't actually witness any of it.
In the press bizarro world that they want, soldiers should be allowed to have coffee breaks during battle, and of course, it's so offensive when they yell at you! And where did it say that there is a constitutional right for a reporter's questions to be answered!
If you get an order to shut up, you shut up. There were no life/death issues here. Seems like a simple court-martial is in order.
(applies to either the wussie soldier or Drudge)
I thought hearsay didn't count.
I don't believe him, if he said he was ordered not to talk to ABC. Just doesn't ring true.
I don't know but it is not unusual to tell soldiers and DA civilians that the public affairs people will handle the media. That's not the same as saying you cannot talk to the media or you must lie to the media or we going to cover up from the media. Of course, there is no way ABC would understand that or this soldier would. ABC probably thinks we have a military so it can have good stories on World News Tonight.
Drudge didn't report it: ABCnews did. If you want to keep your head in the sand about what media outlets are reporting, go back to the USSR.
Wrong. HUGE headlines on his site today. he linked it to ABCnews.
If you want to keep your head in the sand about what media outlets are reporting, go back to the USSR.
What a witless comment!
Hey, bozo, I don't need to know ever little piece of dirt the leftist media wants to use to smear United States soldiers and marines. And if you don't think a smear campaign is going on against our effort, you've got your head in a more unpleasant place than sand.
Matt Drudge should be ashamed...
....enuff of this crap, let's get back to focusing on killing Islamists.
Yeah, Drudge must have been pursuing his evil left-wing agenda when just yesterday he headlined his site with the news that a sarin-laced weapon was found in Iraq. Or how about that time he blew off the cover on the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal? Yep, leftwing trash that Drudge be.
