Ayuh, if only these here people from down there would send all their children to college in Maine, we could have that wretched dialect wiped out in just a few short generations.

I am an echoer. I have never really had my own accent. I spent the summer in Waldoboro with my granddadddy when I was 14. After I got home to Virginia my mother gave me fits for a week about how I had forgotten how to talk. After 3 weeks all I retained was "ayuh" and "ayup." I still have that.
