Ah. Thanks, one of those things that gets lost in the translation.
To: Travis McGee
Coalition has not heard anything about 4 arrests.

Well, Fox just mentioned it briefly. Now, they're covering the daily briefing from Baghdad. On a slow news day they do fluff during the day, sometimes over doing it on some pop culture thingie but on the whole they're still better daytime cable than the others.
Brit is the best, no one else even comes close.

"Tony Randall dead at age 84 " This is the fault of Bush also.
One can't help but wonder if, when the time comes, Reagan will get as much coverage...

Hey, don't mention it. To tell you the truth, I wasn't aware of this little trick until a debate here on FR brought up the subject of murdering captives. To tell you the whole truth, I think the reporter should have added "brutal" or "horrendous", or "criminal".
To: Eurotwit
Nick Berg was not Executed...he was murdered. Execution is a state sanctioned public taking of life.
If we are to be consistent, this is the "War on Terror", and there fore this is murder.
Unless and/or until a state(s) is identified as the adversary, instead of some vague notion of a "tactic", then I wish people would quit calling this an execution.
Westerners refuse to put their hands around this...makes me sick.

You know, everybody in here gets into a state of high dudgeon over the wacko Bush=Hitler nonsense that takes place at MoveOn and DU, and everyone was offended by that "Bush dragged a black man to death behind his truck" ad from 2000 and the "if you vote Republican, more black churches will burn" ads. Rightly so. That stuff's wrong-headed, non-constructive and outrageously offensive.
So why is any of that any worse or more offensive than Hillary Clinton in the Nick Berg picture?

We agree somewhat.
I don't want torture or the mythical swine solution.
I'm not into revenge, or retaliation.
I assume we disagree too.
I'm not interested in converting or convincing rags.
I don't care about their opinions, feelings, concerns, or ideas.

I still remember seeing my first French purchase order. It said "Commande" at the top. I thought that was rather imperious for a few seconds, then realized that an "Order" was pretty much the same...
To: Carolinamom
Apparently, Fox has held back on reporting this for a reason. They're now saying that 4 people have been detained, not arrested.

Yeah, I just heard that.
I still think there is something to the story. i.e. four people have been arrested.
But, they might only be very remotely connected or their status is not entirely clear yet, or even innocent. Or perhaps, as I alluded in the post you just replied to that they have valuable intelligence and it would be in the coalition's interest to not go public yet.
We have seen before how different branches of the coalition in Iraq seem to communicate and coordinate less than perfectly.
Or AFP just made it up (which I doubt), or the Iraqi official made it up.
Who knows.

That's the funny part with foreign languages, and it's even funnier when we make a little mistakes. I once wrote a paper in high school about professional careers where I said sturgeons' kids had much better chances to become sturgeons themselves. I realized what I had done 10 minutes after I gave my papere to the teacher ! lol. The funniest part of this mix-up was that, in an absurd way, it still was quite true. Sturgeon kids usually become sturgeons after all...

If Delta actually did manage to snatch Nick Berg's killers, there will be no press release. They will go to an Iraqi dungeon, and their interrogation will be beyond anything Lyndsie England could conceive of in a nightmare. The CIA will get transcripts of the resulting information on Zarqawi's locations, habits and routines.
We still do need to torture some prisoners, it's a military necessity.
If finding Zarqawi will result in stopping more car bombs and sarin bombs, torturing those four for fast information would be a highly moral act.
To put them in a comfy cell, their information intact in their heads, while car bombs blow up innocents, would be an act of moral cowardice.
Even leftists such as Alan Dershowitz are on the record wholeheartedly agreeing with this.
But having been "burned" by helping the CIA last year, the US Army will have nothting to do with this "moral torture."
So it will have to be an Iraqi and CIA job. At most, Delta will do the snatch and hand over.
