"To have a family, you have to start with a man married to a woman with a lifetime committment."

Then where are the Constitutional Amendments banning divorce and adultery?

You are correct, we should have seen this coming (in fact many did but were laughed out of the discussion) when we liberalized our approach to divorce and sexuality in the 60s. Homosexuality isn't a cause, it's a result. We owe many of today's gays and lesbians an apology that we didn't stop this juggernaut before they could be recruited. But there's no sense crying over spiled milk, as they say.

Shalom.

That is a irrelevant. Divorce is just as much a part of marriage even before christianity. Even the ancient code of hamurabi had provisions for divorce.

The issue for divorce is that the same reasoned people who created no-fault have developed same sex marriage. In fact the mass opinion derives much of its "logic" from the ABA's model divorce code.

The solution in this environment is not to do away with no fault, but to do away with community property state laws and make everything equitable distribution. As part of the equity, make fault an issue.

IOW legally the divorce itself is granted without fault. HOWEVER the distribution of property and children (who are property) is divided based on fault. Thus if he/she has an affair, that will affect the equities in how property is distributed and custody granted.

Fianlly in the old model code there was a provision which a judge could order the parties to three months of marriage counseling. Most states have mindlessly included that provision in their state codes. There is nothing stopping judges from ordering that NOW with no change in law. (if one marriage is saved....)

If you want to make a useful suggestion on the divorce issue, then perhaps a non-ABA model divorce code should be developed. Legislatures right now have ONLY the ABA (commie) code to work from.
