President Bush spoke Monday to mark the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas, decision that ended racially segregated schools.
He greeted the fueling squadron on the way in, and greeted the Air National Guard troops on the way out of the airport at Topeka, Kansas.
*I'm ready for a pet again.*
I didn't think I would ever have a cat again
but he picked me out.
Fomr your lips to God's ears!!!
Hey....Wphile....been going to ask you....I'm a delegate....thinking about signing up for the dinner, too...are you? (Or am I too late?...hmmmm...gonna have to check that.)
Another "Sit down, sit down, you're rocking the boat" moment.
Actually, when I see the Veep doing this, I think "calm down, Truthy, we have this election under control. You do your part and we'll be Inaugurated again on Jan. 20th, 2005." Please, dear God, let that be true!
I forgot to mention. When folks are supposed to be praying, isn't it wonderful to know that this President is really praying!?!
Yup, me too.
What's the name of that book?
The evil DOES explain why they hate him. The light in him shines on the darkness in THEM, and they can't stand it........
You know, Mike - when I read the President's speech on the White House webpage, I was torn, trying to find one or two sentences that "captured" what he said today.
He said so much, and was so honest about our history, how much there was to be done after Brown v Board - and how thre are things yet to be done today. I don't think I've ever heard another President speak as candidly about the bias in our Country and how there are vestiges of it, still.
Bravo Zulu, President Bush.
BTW, thanks for doing the Dose over the weekend. I thought with the Peace Officers ceremony, and knowing your brother is somewhere overseas, that you'd do one and I was glad to see that you did one. I just didn't see it until I was making sure about what pictures might have been posted over the weekend.
Wasn't the President fantastic, meeting with the families of Officers who have been lost in the line of duty? His expression in come of the pictues just touched my heart.
He truly is our Compassionate, Caring President.
I've just started it, but I read his last book, and his writing style is WONDERFUL.
He's also a strong Conservative and supporter of the President, so I agree with everything he says.
You should get it, ilovew!
Misunderesimated by Bill Sammon.
How are you doing? We have been tbinking about you.
He's praying for US! This is the least we can do!
He is comfortable and a happy camper where ever he goes. Just look at the smiles he leaves behind.
I firmly believe in writing emails, making telephone calls and writing letters, if they don't give "fair and balanced" news.
And lately, I've noticed that they are 'fair and balanced' more in Kerry's favor than the President's. They show 30 seconds of Dubya, and the next 5 minutes of JFnKerry. Oh yea, I really want to see "Mr. Botox" and hear him droooooooone on. One of the stock-market analysts on the Saturday Morning shows on Fox said that "First of all, we can't have a President who sounds as boring as Kerry, and second, who puts people to sleep in the first 12 seconds, or makes them want to change the channel!"
A couple of weeks ago, they broke away after about 2 minutes of the President's speech, to cover the Kobe Bryant "appearance". Oh yeah, I really wanted to see that more than I wanted to see the President.
I fired off an email to Fox News, expressing that they just had lost their "sense of balance" if they thought it was more important to cut off the President in order to be able to show Bryant appearing at the Court House. I suggested that if they felt the obligation to carry some things "live", could they at least tape the President's speech and have the courtesy to show it, in it's entirety a little later in the hour?
I haven't caught every speech by the President since then, but the two I did, I noticed they stayed with the President until a hard break at the top of the hour, when I knew they had to cut away.
So, I think that emailing, calling, writing letters WORKS!!
If enough of us do it, it has to make an impact.
BTW, I'm on the platform committee! What fun that's been...NOT!
I want to read that book too! I was appalled the last time in the book store...Hastings or Barnes and Noble...not sure which...but they had an ENTIRE RACK of Bush Bashing books! Made me sick. I left the store without spending a time.
I will! I can't wait to read that. I so need to hear some nice things about my beloved president. It's so hard to hear all those bad things.
Thank you. I'm doing much better. I feel like I can do anything. I'm excited about the rest of my life. And a little nervous too. Mostly excited though.
My husband and I go through stores hiding those kind of books, or turning them around....LOL....Platform Committee? You a masochist? Seriously....hard work!!!! I commend you, and can't wait (NOT) to see the discussions raised around it on that day......I'm sure will be interesting. I'll try and find the dinner invite and sign up.
Good for you.
AND CNN didn't cover the WMD's today, either.
Neither did MSNBC or CNBC, even though the market had tanked from the two terrorist attacks over the weekend. It gapped down on the open, and started to turn around when Fox News was bringing on all of these experts about Sarin gas, mustard gas, artillery shells, binary explosions (needs to be shot out of a cannon to make the two chemicals mix, and make the really destructive Sarin gas) and about how difficult it is to find anything in Iraq because Saddam had so long to hide it.
There was suppostion that these artillery shells have been hidden in "safe houses" - and how would Blix have never found them IF they were in houses.
I also heard that these had been hidden before the first Gulf War. Yikes - so many chances for Blix to have found them, so few actual finds. What WAS Blix doing over there?
I have this idea of how he sat in a hotel and sent out worker-bees, and he never went out there himself, or worked the gossip or rumor chains to find out where any of this stuff was. Yeah, great investigative searcher he was. NOT.
