What say you???
To: El Conservador
To paraphrase Pres. Bush, why should we care about the "Grecians"?

Let the US Olympic Comittee know what you think about "jingoistic behavior".

Nothing good can come of the US participating in the Olympics--only bad things can happen.
Let's stay home and watch the rest of the world destroy each other, as they have done since history has been recorded.

Hogwash! By us not going to the Olympics, it sends a clear signal to the Islamists and the enabler countries around the world that they can effect us. We need to bring our own security personel, show up, and kick butt! Our athletes will be seen as even greater because of their performance under those circumstances. We cannot cow-tow to anyone.

Agree. Was it Jesse Owens who showed the Nazis? Let's show everybody.

Amen, we cannot be deterred, and we must provide our own security....we need not stay in any of Greece's hotels...we can take care of our athlete's needs...all we need is a piece of land on which to put our own accomodations.

I agree. I work with one sport and am glad I'm not traveling with the squad.
If we're hit, watch for our premiere sport to get hit...and that ain't field hockey or team handball.

One reason why they should - to show the WORLD that the US is not terroized, scared or in any way threatened.

I believe we should go, and I also believe that the entire 82nd Airborne should be listed on the team.

I say you're right. Going to Athens during the Olympics is insane.
However, Athens is one of my favorite places. Include Turkey in your vacation if you're in that area, especially if you appreciate fine food and biblical history.

(Is it just coincidence that the FR spell-checker lists "a**h*le as an alternative to "Tom Dashle?")

Let our athletes decide for themselves. Keep in mind for many this is the pinnacle of their athletic career. The thing to which they've worked for their whole lives. Add to that, for many this is a one shot (or last shot) deal, 2008 is simply not in the cards for many. Would hate for any to be denied this opportunity because of politics.
To: jolie560
So you would deny 590 Americans that have devoted years of their life to gain prowess, the privilege of testing their skills against the worlds finest. In addition, this is the 100th anniversary of the Olympics.
Sorry, but to deny the kids this opportunity, because we have become a timid society, is just unfair.

I am in agreement with you on this. This is the biggest venue for the terrorist to show their abilities. Being an American over there is certainly a target(more so now than the last Olympics).
