Where is the water going?
This guys not very smart. I would think it would be obvious to him why this is happening. Now, let's see what cataclysmic event happened 3 years ago that could account for this change? Ahhh yes George W Bush was elected, er should I say selected, as President. I think it's fairly obvious that is precisely the time that global warming really took root.
This is personal, after all, it did ruin his vacation!!!!!
"The temperature at the north pole has risen several degrees just in the last few weeks," Saunders said. /sarcasm
I agree its getting warmer. I can recall seeing pictures taken during the 50's of car driving on Long Island sound during the winter.
If he wants a challenge, let him go in a kayak the whole distance.
I gotta question: If we are losings so many jobs to overseas manufacturers..should we by default be sending less green house gases in to the atmostphere. Meaning who needs the US adhearing to KYOTO.
"drag his sled across open patches of water nine times"
I'd like to see that. Every time I try to drag a sled across open patches of water, I end up under water.
Quite confusing.
At the same time we hear about freezing over we now are exposed to news from a skier prevented to ski from Russia to Canada that there is too much open water for lack of cold.
I'm still waiting for an accurate weather report for the next five days and therefore are less concerned about forecasts covering the next 50 years.
While I don't buy into the human-induced global warming theory at all, its hard to deny that global temperatures have increased.
What I find most significant about the idea of the melting of Arctic ice is that we may have a third coast to give military consideration.
drag his sled across open patches of water nine times during the 71 days he spent alone.
And the good news is, the NorthWest passage should be available year round!
I find both extremes of the global warming arguement hard to imagine. First, it's obvious that the Earth has climate changes, and that temperatures will change, regardless of what humans are doing. Second, it's difficult to imagine that 4.5 billion of us, many of us generating pollution, don't have some effect on our surroundings.
I seem to recall the "shocking news" of clear water at the North pole last year. It was trumpeted as (all together now) more proof of Global Warming. Then a few weeks later some scientists debunked the alarm by noting that the North Pole has been documented as frequently ice-free during summer months. This was not a new development, and had no bearing on Global Warming one way or the other.
Does anyone else remember that story?
Thank God!!!
So the fabled "Northwest Passage" from Europe to Asia will finally open up. How is this bad?
Are we NOW witnessing the end of the Gulf Stream as we know it ?

Wasn't there some kind of prize offered for discovering the Northwest Passage? Looks like ol' Ben has finally found it - wonder if he can claim the prize?
Did anyone ever believe that the ambient temperatures would remain the same? Nature is in constant change.
