Hitler and Stalin got long standing ovations too. There's a story that a recorded speech of Stalin's was played at a Communist Party gathering, the last side (of 8) was all recorded applause. Normally, Stalin would signal for applause to end in his live speeches. This time, he was not present. The attendees kept applauding and applauding, not knowing how to stop. Eventually one did, and was arrested the next day.

Hitler and Stalin got long standing ovations too.LOL. Stalin rigged up a special light to let his audiences know when it was politically acceptable to stop clapping.
