I've been watching this series since the beginning. I have to admit at first I was appalled! I couldn't believe this show, it was so raunchy, but it grows on you. We TIVO'd it last night and watched it this moring and it was a great show. I believe in the first or second episode there was a remark made to the Sol character that implied he was Jewish. Something about money and "YOUR" people.

This is a fantastic show. Don't let the colorful language put you off, because there are some very excellent messages about survival and self-reliance. There is a hard libertarian strain running throughout. I'm enthralled with it.

Well, after the first episode, I never watched another. It was raunchy and also put me to sleep. Did I pre-judge it?

It was made clear early on he was Jewish. ~3 different times. Plus what's a Jew gonna do in Deadwood? Open a store of course. Didn't Levi Strauss make their first big money selling to California gold miners
