the Administration should come out and say "We are very concerned that the Terrorists may have discovered a stockpile of Iraq's WMD. We are monitoring the situation closely." ... then check out the reaction of the press and libs ... if they belittle it that means they are not willing to connect the dots and do not care about the safety of the troops

The young blood at the State Dept would do this but the old guard are still plodding along with their outdated agenda.

The way the press works is that if a story has potential to harm Bush, they will tug at every thread; if a story helps Bush or hurts Dems, they aren't nearly as curious. I seriously think that if tomorrow we found 10,000 WMD warheads buried in the desert, the press would find some way to discount it, saying they were old, or past their shelf-life, or Hans Blix would have found them, etc. Having dismissed the WMB issue, the press will not let it come back; Bush has too much to gain if they are found.

Sounds like it's time for the Church of the Bully Pulpit...

Besides, knowing what we do about Sarin, and, God forbid, if they ever get hold of VX (which is not the same as Sarin, I stand corrected), do you want that stuff eliminated over there, or over here (which would make 9-11 seem like a playground scrape by comparison)?

Ooops, sounds like the premise of the whole thing from the beginning..."preemption"?
