Point 2. Granted, I got out in 1980, but I know that gas mask filters and chemical suits exposed to blister agents like mustard gas are no longer effective against nerve agents (VX - SARIN) and must be replaced..

The media really underplayed that thwarted Jordanian attack and most refused to call it a thwarted WMD attack as well.
this is the problem with the white house - there should be a press briefing going on right now, this instant. Not to make a broad WMD claim, but just to highlight the incident and say its being investigated, yada yada. Instead, they wait around, poke at each other, and the media gets the jump on them to spin it as pesticide, or left over from the Iran/Iraq war, etc. This is a perfect example of how bad the white house media strategy is - they have no war room, and its hurting Bush badly.
One wonders if Rumsfeld went there to be briefed because it was too hot for satellite transmission.

You may be right. When I posted my prediciton of ONE DAY news story, I had not heard about the Mustard gas discovery a few weeks ago. Maybe, just maybe we are getting close. It is absolutely BAFFLING to me WHY all the news about this story is NOT just the simple truthe that WMD have been FOUND. Rather than the spin that seems to care whether or not it is OLD or NEW or whether or not the Terrorists KNEW it was WMD.
That being said, let's pray WE are NOT giving the Terrorists the INFORMATION necessary to USE those sarin gas shells on us EFFECTIVELY.

It was rigged as an IED and exploded. Initial reports were that there were no casualties, but now it appears there are three.
Sarin has an antidote, but the damage it causes long term is considerable.
WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT about this is that it marks an escalation in the war. The enemy combatants have used WMD on the US and its allies for the first time.
Abu Gharaib is yesterday's news now. The story is going to have to be, "WMD have been deployed against the coalition, how is the coalition going to respond to WMD in an urban warfare environment?"
There is no more moral high ground for the insurgence. We can bury prisoners a$$ up and park bicycles in them and nobody is going to have a problem with it.
The blast in North Korea isn't going away either. An entire town was annihilated last week, and everybody is wondering how it happened.
Just a quick note. "Small" is very relative when speaking of nerve agent. I saw a picture once of a Lincoln penney. A "lethal" dose, a single drop of nerve agent, was small enough to fit into the corner of the eye of Lincoln on the penney.
Impossible to simply explode it in place, too.
