One version passed the state legislature but must be ratified again by lawmakers and voters—and wouldn't take effect before 2006

Does anyone know the timeline on this - when the legislature will vote again?

The legislature has to approve this at 2 constitutional conventions. The next one would be Spring 2005.

I should apologize for not making it clear it was the local news here in Massachusetts!

A couple from Alabama? I thought you had to be a resident of the state to get a license. No?

Governor Mitt found a law that said Mass doesn't perform weddings for out-of-staters if it wouldn't be legal in the home state.

The problem is the law Mitt found was passed in 1913 because some southern states banned interracial marriages . . . AND it's never been used in recent history (i.e. town clerks have never asked anyone where they live before), so some towns say they won't ask anyone where they live now either.

Summary: they can get married here, but it won't be considered a valid marriage by Mitt.

Barney is probably at the hairdresser getting his nails and hair done in preparation for all the partying ahead.

Today's Globe has a very large picture of two guys kissing eachother on the lips. They are each wearing some sort of wreath on their heads.

Unbelievable!!!!

I love reading my newspaper even though it isn't really necessary anymore. It's a generational thing,I guess.

The headline and picture in the Globe today wasn't just "above the fold" it went below the fold. They are positively gleeful about this and I'm through with this newspaper after many years.

I feel as if I'm being brainwashed every day.
