LOL. Damn that sucks. It's like something I'd do.

Throwing one's back out a little from sneezing is better than peeing one's pants or passing gas from sneezing. Not that I personally have done either one of course :D

LOL I did that 2 years ago. I was in bed for almost a week and then got pneumonia.

It's not strange. It's fairly common. A lot of hernias come from sneezing while carrying something, for example.

Guess you are going to get all kinds of funny replies to this one. BUT..
Exactly the same thing happened to me years ago.
I walked into the bathrooom one morning after just getting out of bed.
I sneezed, and went right to my knees. Excruciating pain. My wife literally had to carry me to the Dr.
I've injured my back many times, a cronic problem, but never had the pain as severe as that occasion.
Now if I feel a sneeze coming on I reach for support, a counter, table, tree whatever.

It does suck. I reinjured my back last August from spending 14 hours vomiting as a result of food poisoning. My doctor told me some people injure their backs from having BMs....not a pretty picture.

I know some people will probably take offense at this remark, but baseball players are a bit too pampered to for my tastes.
I mean, who ever heard of some sissy offensive tackle go on the disabled list because he sprained an ankle or tore a ligament? The idea of a pitcher being pulled from a game because one of his pinkie fingers hurts is altogether ludicrous.
Personally, I think that the weakest rugby or hockey player would crush someone like Mark McGuire.

Happened to my husband. Sneezed while flossing his teeth, 30 or so years ago. Crawled out to the car for the trip to the hospital... said he didn't want the neighbors talking about any ambulance. I said, what do you think they'll say about you crawling to the car?
From what I understand, this happens because repeated previous stresses injure the back, then a sneeze or cough sets off the nerve pinch. Or something like that.

Sounds like an adrenaline-related stress injury induced by steroids.

I've had a stiff neck since Monday from the same thing, good thing I'm not a game player.

Have "thrown my back" sneezing/coughing when I had Pneumonia; also when pulling a full-length slip over my head (that was embarrassing because I had to roll myself onto the bed and just wait for help....)

I feel your pain. My favorite thing was trying to put my socks on and spasms when you're driving are wonderful.
Thank G_d for wives.

Sneezing does cause some wicked muscle tension. And so does throwing up.
The last time I tossed my cookies, muscles in my chest/solar plexus area were sore for several days. Coughing and sneezing would be painful.

Yes, it does suck "big time."

He sneezed twice shortly after arriving in the clubhouse before the game, which brought on back spasms and forced him to grab a chair to support himself. But the important question is, will my boss buy this tomorrow morning?
