I'm sorry, but I'm loosing you on this part; "I remember in some paperwork.."

Here are the the Yes - No questions1 on the IL FOID Application:

2. Have you ever been convicted of a felony?
3. In the past 5 years, have you been a patient in any medical facility or part of any medical facility used primarily for the care or treatment of persons for mental illness?
4. Are you addicted to narcotics?
5. Are you mentally retarded?2
6. Are you subject to an existing order of protection which prohibits you from possessing a firearm?
7. Within the past 5 years, have you been convicted of battery, assault, aggravated assault, violation of an order of protection, or a substantially similar offense in which a firearm was used or possessed?
8. Have you ever been convicted of domestic battery or substantially similar offense (misdemeanor or felony)?
9. Have you ever been adjudicated a delinquent minor for the commission of an offense that if committed by an adult would be a felony?
10 Are you an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States?

As you can see there's nothing specific about a DUI. However as I've previously posted, I did read about a person who was an inpatient in a 28 day Alki program. They tried (or did) pull his card under the 'metal illness', Five Year hospitalization clause mentioned in question #3. but I also recall he was appealing. Also, I just read the IL State Police website gun FAQS and again, nothing about a DUI.

#1 - Question #1 is the reason for the application, i.e.; new, renewal, name change
#2 - Question #5 should preclude any democRAT from owning a gun (sarcasm)

NEVRDEM: "IIRC, the debate in at least one state involved denying concealed carry for a DUI."

XHOGPILLOT: "It depends if the maximum penalty allowed is greater than one year. Even if the person was given probation, if the max allowed conviction was imprisonment greater than one year, that person (usually) has a restriction against purchasing and/or owning firearms. For ever." (#82)

EndTheMatrix: "In IL you get convicted of a DUI, you cough up the guns..."

___________________________________________________________

I was referring to CONVICTION (of DUI) as to relating to possession, not FOID or concealed carry. The paperwork I was referring to was court documents that list the requirements to comply with a conviction of DUI. I fail to remember if this was only for conviction of the max penalty (one yr) or if it was for a lesser sentence. Then again check post #82 and the ATF FAQ I will place a high bet that it stated ANY sentence. Sorry if there was a miscommunication.

I didn't know O'Reilly was gun hater.

Guess I won't be listening to him anymore now.

I wouldn't go so far as to call O'Reilly a gun-hater (in the same vein as Feinstein, Schumer, etc). He takes pro-2nd Amendment stances on issues more often than not, but he's just grossly uninformed about the AWB. What disturbed me most about his interview with Pratt is that he didn't want to become informed about it.
