Yea, like Pierce Brosnan has ANY say about who would direct the franchise.
Sean Connery is the only REAL James Bond!
Maybe not. The Timothy Dalton years didn't kill the franchise and the Pierce Brosnan Bond as softy years haven't done too much harm. Maybe Tarantino could take us back to something closer to the great Connery days. James Bond, if you've ever read any of the books was a very, very hard man.
One more thing, I would love to see Casino Royale made as it was---not an updated version.
Personally I'd love to see him do it. After all, we're just talking one movie, here. Not as if he'll direct every single Bond movie from now til the end of time. And the last couple of Bond movies have, for the most part, been uninspiring (Brosnan's are hit-and-miss, while Dalton's sucked, and some of the last Roger Moore ones weren't all that great). It'd be nice to see something different for a change.

A couple of things. If He followed the original Casino royale novel, it would have to be an R rated version, because that was a bloody, violent novel, with one very graphic torture scene.
I am a big fan of the original novels, and I'm not adverse to making them closer to the books. I just think his style is over the top.
I don't know if an R rated Bond would fly.
By the way, I enjoyed Die Another Day very much. Change that terrible Madonna soundtrack with a John Barry score and it would be one of the top five Bonds, in my opinion. It was Brosnan's best outing as 007, without a doubt.
Halle Berry didn't hurt, either.

The funny thing about Timothy Dalton ...he is the most accurate James Bond if you delve into Ian Fleming's books. The literally James Bond was a person who was confident, but internally tortured. Confident and debonair, but hiding a side that was inherently unsure of itself. And at the end of his life he shoots himself.
Dalton was the most 'internally fissured' Bond. The one most likely to fail. The most 'human' of the 7 players to take up Bond (7? Yep, 7. Including Casino Royale's actor and one that did an on-stage portrayal. For the big-screen there are only 5 I believe ....Connery, the Australian dude, Moore, Dalton and Brosnan). Well, let me say the most human of the 5 'traditional' actors, since theater productions nromally entail more acting and less special effects.
Anyways, Dalton is the most accurate Bond. The sad thing is, for most people, he is the most boring in many respects.
The best balance of the Bonds is done by Connery .....who managed to get many aspects from Flemming's book Bond, and at the same time had the suave look and just enough special effects to tie it up. But at the core he was still a highly skilled special agent. Most later Bonds, for example Roger Moore and even Pierce Brosnan, relied a tad bit too much on Q-gadgets and globs of pure luck. Roger Moore got the role because he had acted in the TV series The Saint, which is quite Bond-esque. I believe the reason Pierce Brosnan got the role is because of his days as the TV private eye Remington Steele ...which was basically Bond-esque, and anyways he does look like a modern Bond would ....no way he would be in a movie with women called P^ssy Galore! And he was supposed to be the next Bond after Moore until Timothy Dalton somehow got involved and got the part.
Anyways, many may disagree, but my best Bond is Roger Moore for purely personaly reasons. I know for many he is usually the 2nd or 3rd worst (after Dalton and the Australian dude ....never could quite grasp his name ...he was only a one-termer though so I guess it is no big loss).
I'm a big Tarentino fan, the guy makes enjoyable flicks, I'd love to see his take on Bond!
I saw the original Casino Royale. He can't do worse. The book was good, btw.
Doesn't really matter who directs. The charm of Bond was the cheesiness of the times. It just ain't the same anymore. Would the FCC today even allow a character name Pussy Galore?
To be totally accurate, Commander Bond, WWII verteran, needs to be about 80 years old right now. James Bond with a walker, pace maker and hearing aide.

I hope Tarantino takes it on...if he follows the true story line it will be the best Bond Movie ever.
Maybe he should make it in Black and White... let the great Ian Fleming's genius make it a great movie.

My understanding is there's only 1 more JB movie left on Pierce's contract. There's already talk of who the next Bond will be.
