Ukraine celebrates Eurovision win

Ukraine celebrates Eurovision win

Ruslana's high tempo song impressed Europe Ukraine has won the 2004 Eurovision song contest in Istanbul, Turkey - only the second time the country has taken part in the competition. Ruslana, a successful singer, producer, dancer and composer in her home country, won for her song Wild Dance.

Debutants Serbia and Montenegro came second, with Greece third. The UK's James Fox took 16th spot.

More than 100 million viewers were expected to watch the TV coverage of the event, now in its 49th year.

Congratulations to Ukraine on their first place (although not a favorite of mine). Also congratulations to new commers Serbia and Montenegro on their second place. Also a congrats to Greece.

All I can say is that I made a point of not seeing it... *shudders*.

I'm sorry for Lena though, she should have performed in swedish ;).

Yeah I didn't watch it either, sat outside and drank wine with friends instead...much more enjoyable if you know what I mean. But we did come in to see the voing results. Lol, you just can't help laughing at the politics behind the whole competition. And yes I agree with you, Lena should have sung in Swedish...."Det gör ont eller hur" :)

I saw most of it. If you view it as a novelty and ignor the actual competition, it is not terrible. A sort of 20 odd band sets. (of course the "disco dean" was just plain funny. No jab at Bosnia, just a bit dated for me.)
