Two reporterettes from the NY Times wax orgasmic over the possibility of a Kerry-McCain ticket. If it's really so unthinkable, why does it continually keep resurfacing?

It's a pact with the Devil. A VP does nothing and has no power. All it would do is help Kerry who, as we all know, is trouncing GWB in the polls (yeah, right).

Let's postulate that McLame accepts the VP nomination with Kerry. Wouldn't that then spell the end of his political career once the Kerry/McLame ticket loses?

This article proves I should pay no attention to the musings of the media..McCain said Bush is his man, he will actively work for his reelection.

This is typical NYSlimes stirring the pot.
Remember the constant speculation about who would be Dubya's veep.
One week it's Whitman, then it's Pataki.......
Each time it was someone unacceptable to the conservative base, but then that was the purpose. Causing unrest and wariness in the party.

Well, you all know who Kerry's No. 2 really is, regardless who end's up with the No. 2 title in name only.

I like McCain, but if he has a challenger in AZ in next election I may well go with the challenger. McCain hasn't been as pro AZ as Goldwater was. When is the last time anyone ever heard McCain speak about AZ in an interview, other then maybe "I am from AZ?"
He could just as well represent New York as far as anyone could tell.
Ok, I am off my soapbox....
To: Cincinatus
I can't imagine that McCain would want to be VP.

That's fine if they keep floating the Sen. from AZ. It will be a letdown with Kerry ultimately settles on the actual candidate. A candidate that won't outshine him on the same stage. Somehow, a more boring candidate.

If it's really so unthinkable, why does it continually keep resurfacing?" It keeps resurfacing to try and keep the dead horse awake.
McCain said repeatedly, not only would he not take the VP slot if offered he would accept NO POSITION in a Kerry administration.
He said I don't know how to make it any plainer than that.
Don't you think McCain knows what Kerry did to the troops in Vietnam with his VVAW group? Would you work for this guy after that.
The NYTs is orgasmic over a dry hole.

1. This won't happen because McCain may be many things but he ain't stupid.
He would be seen as a traitor by both bases and they wouldn't vote for him......the GOP faithful would hate him forever and he would lose his senate seat if he lost the elcetion, and the rumprs would start that this is a GOP ploy to retain power and the dem base would flee.

"Mr. McCain is also well aware that his power and influence in Washington derives from his candor, " McCain has no special power and influence other than what the old media give him.
He's worth more to Kerry as an honest impartial statesman who puts aside partisan politics to candidly admit how bad Bush is and how great Kerry is.
Were he nominated VP the Bush surrogates would be free to leak the whole truth about McCain's vendetta against Bush. He would be easy to define as an embittered childish paranoid and would lose his value as being above partisanship.

The only thing he would have to do is say, `I'm not going to appoint any judges who would overturn Roe v. Wade,' " the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortionWhat a good Catholic!

Uh, I hate to make you sound like John Kerry, but I think you answered your question before you asked your question.
Are all the other pols in the dem party, including btw, HRH Hillary! really going to stand for JFK putting McCain on the ticket? This would ensure that, win or lose, McCain would jump to the front of the pack for the dem '08 nomination?

- It's an old magicians trick - distraction. While you're busy watching the left hand waving McCain about, the right hand is holding Hitlery up it's sleeve.
