This will be much different and much much bigger than the rush to San Francisco. I can't imagine that all the nation's homosexuals won't be headed to MA. I also gotta believe these mariages will be valid nationwide.
Yep - the press releases are flying already....the invitations have been put in the mail....and the grand ballrooms have already been rented....
so long as the federal defense of marriage act is in place - they are not valid nationwide. but I think there are 5 votes on this SCOTUS to toss that, then they will be. that's why the amendment is the only way to stop it from going nationwide.
The relevent question for the Supremes to address is if it is constitutional for any state to forbid recognition of a (gay) marriage license issued by another state. IMO, they will probably allow this. Thereafter, only a contitutional amendment will set things right.
Just wait until they try to force the "RED" states to recognize these marriages, especially the Southern states. I hope there is one helluva fight against this. If not, a positive future is lost.
