Go Kerik! He's one that ought to know. I hope his word carries some weight with these front-liners into the ballot box in November!

"John Kerry attacked the President for overemphasizing the War on Terror on the same day that Osama Bin Laden issued a new threat against the United States. The President needs no reminder that we are at war against terrorism. His steady leadership in the War on Terror is the reason that we are fighting the terrorists in Baghdad instead of Boston." I don't know about that...might want to look at the editors of The Globe a little harder...

My father is a retired NYC cop, my best friends are cops, my cousin is a cop, and they all can`t stand this Kerry. I just heard that he got some endorsement from a police union. WHAT? What police union is this, French?
To: RWR8189
completely detached from reality At least, Kerry is consistent.
FReepers, we barely missed have that dolt, Algore, in the White House. We don't need a bigger dolt in there. Vote for W!!

Well that's some good news at least. Sometimes I think the police in NY are the only ones with any sense of reality.

The endorsements typically speak for union leadership, which is almost always corrupt and in bed with the Democrats. I'll bet among rank-and-file cops Bush clobbers Kerry. Pay the endorsement no mind.

John Kerry is a walking, talking, outrage. Its hard to believe that any rational person would seriously consider voting for that malfunction.

Could he get a few minutes on O'Reilly . . .H&C. . .or to the more needed choir of listeners on Larry King (for whom he could pretend to a Kerry supporter).
Just a short interview to get the truth out; loud and clear.

The union is well a union; what can you say. Feel sorry for those who wear the unifroms; do the real work; and the union big guys sitting in their offices decide; or maybe just the 'big guy' decides, who/what/where.

The endorsement was from the International Brotherhood of Police Officers (IBPO), whose statement was indistinguishable from the DNC talking points along with Sarah Brady and the VPC.
The rant went on about how all cops demand the strengthening of the assault weapons law because of "machine guns and AK-47s like terrorists use in Afghanistan", the elimination of good old "cop-killer bullets", and beamed that Kerry would "put 100,000 more cops on the street". Now where have we heard that crap before?
If this group claims to speak for all police officers, then I'm Terry McAuliffe.

Ya know, it's kind of sad. Kerry and the entire Democrat Party operate under the assumption that every encounter with the public or group is based on the premise that that group wants something of value, either cash, favor, or protection.
This is not really true. People are tired of it. Sure, the teachers unions, AFSME workers and the like expect the grift, but as individuals in the crowd, even they are tiring of it.
Promising everyone redistribution, and blaming the inequities of American and global life on the other guy is not a fresh tune. It's a song everyone is tired of.

The Police Unions did the same damn thing for Clinton. AND, the Police Administrators all kissed Clintons a$$ because they wanted the grant money he promised. The Administrators, most of them, are nothing but whores out to get more money for their Departments. They need the extra money because they have failed to properly manage what they already had.
The real Cops....I would bet most of them, are conservative to a fault and can't stand the Libs!

The FOP had better back President Bush. If they back Kerry I'm leaving the union. I've had enough.
To: winodog
It's really not that surprising. The Dems will be nominating worse and worse people as time goes by. From Clinton to Gore to Kerry to Hillary to ??? in 2012, I fully expect an even more radical anti-American candidate to be nominated by then. The hippy generation that controls the Democratic Party will continue to get more extreme as they age. If 9-11 couldn't make them wise up to reality, then nothing will.

I could not believe this endorsement of Kerry either!
They said they endorsed Kerry because President Bush didn't provide funding for additional policemen/women in the US after 9/11!
They union rep went on to boast that they had endorsed President Bush in 2000, but because of the President's history of disservice to Police Forces around the County they could no longer endorse W.
Then went on to say that what ever Candidate they have endorsed in the past has always won, so look for President Kerry on November 5.
Am I missing something or do law enforcement officers think Kerry is really their "guy".
Also, how do Union's endorse a candidate. Does the membership take a vote? Curious.
To: not2worry
No, it`s all BS like most unions. Half my family are cops, and they feel like words are being put in their mouths just like the `90`s. There is no voting to endorse a candidate, most likely J f***ing Kerry used his wifes money to "get some words". The Fraternal Order of Police consistently endorsed Clinton which was insane. It`s all politics and $$$. Either GW is too busy or just has some integrity not to get involved in that phony BS which is the more likely senario, but democrats have no problem doing it do they? The inaction of the Clinton administration for 8 years caused 911. If members of your family were killed after a sitting President did nothing or appeased their killers for eight years, how would you feel? I don`t know ANY cop or fireman who supports Kerry, buts that`s just in NYC. This orginazation does NOT represent all cops. Matter of fact, it probably talks for about 5% of all cops in this country. He`s a phony this Kerry and this endorsement is BS. Sort of like getting apprval from Barbara Streisand. And if you`ll notice, that endorsement is not mentioned anywhere on their site. It`s only a few misguided morons who made that statement.

Thanks for the input. Seems like endorsements are a political game which most people, including myself, don't understand.
It seems like the Union Bosses run the show and it's still the good old boy network. If I were a union paying member of anything I'd want a say so and would be totally outraged.
In any case, I live in a rural area in the Midwest and our cops don't need no stinking union!
After the endorsement of Kerry by the Brotherhood of Police Officers, we all just looked at each other and said "SAY WHAT?" But then we got the Third Militia as back up.
