The author of this article obviously has a political agenda he wishes to spout. His bias is anything but subtle. I had the privilege of riding in a Presidential motorcade on Earth Day and trust me there were plenty of protesters along the route. Why some people were not allowed to hold up their signs I can only guess, but from the one quoted I can only assume it was not because of the message but because it was in poor taste. Freedom of speech does not mean one can be irresponsible.

It does mean that government does not have any leigimate power to infringe on free speech or assembly based on the political content of one's speech. Using "Fire in a crowded theatre" comparisons to someone merely expressing dissatisfaction in front of a motorcade just proves the slippery sloppe theory to be true.

It's not like the president has a great track record on free speech issues to begin with. Witness CFR. Even he said it was unconstitutional. Then he signed it.
