Hate to burst yor bubble- But this City is making a huge comeback. Been here recently? The Dowtown is great. The big dig is nearly complete (I know- it was a federal boondoggle that on principle I was against)- but it looks good! The formally ugly waterfront of Boston is going to look great. Look to Finneran. President of the Senate. A good Irish Catholic who is still officially "pro life" as are most other pols of Irish or Italian extraction. But in reality- I have to agree it matters little and is token only. Up until last year this state still had blue laws- no liquor sales on Sundays (and most towns still maintain them- though not Boston any longer.) Our bars close at 1:30- most close at 1:00. Boston doesn't even have a "Red zone". I think there is one "strip" bar left in Boston and that is not even full nudity. No porn shops.
The poltics of Massachusetts is complicated (Irish - Yankee relations are still a major factor in some ways). Culturally this is a very conservative and some say "prudish" town and state.
Go Sox.
Boston is a nice city. It's the people that aren't so nice. Having blue laws in place doesn't make the state conservative. Look at your federal elections. The results say a lot. BTW, here in FL, there are still dry counties, which means NO alcohol sales. We also still have plenty of counties with blue laws. So do many places in the country. There are some good people in Mass, but I wouldn't live there...
Since I got to pay a nice chunk of my hard-earned life energy for your pretty little dig... It just makes me all warm inside to listen to the cute little smarmy Boston 'tude.
Well... I guess they call 'em Massholes for reason, don't they?
